When we were kids playing tag and hide n’ seek never grew old. Why such games were that entertaining, I won’t ever know.2
When we were kids our favorite accessory was a little stuffed animal or blanket clutched tightly in our petite hands. No matter how ragged, it was still loved.3
When we were young what the other kid looked like or what clothes they wore wasn’t important. As long as they were friendly it looked as if you had someone to play with. Why have we grown so judgmental?4
When we were kids we probably wore band aids more than a teen-aged girl wears makeup. Sometimes I miss my friends' natural beauty.5
When we were kids how immature we were! We would laugh until we couldn't breathe and joked around every chance we got. I miss those days because since then we have only grown up and have grown apart.6
When we were kids we could be so care-free. Stress had not been introduced yet. Worry would probably come as the thunder crashed and the lightening exploded. You could always run to your parents in any storm though.7
When we were kids technology wasn’t such a big deal. We would rather be outside enjoying the warm weather and nature.8
When we were kids we had broken toys, not broken hearts. Have we forgotten what love really is?9
When we were kids some would day dream about being a teenager and the privileges you'd get. Now that I’m there I want to go back in time. I wish I could go back and slow it all down. I’d enjoy being a kid so much more.10
When we were kids...how that seems so long ago.11
Author notes
Please know that I'm not against growing up. I do dislike some of the...changes that come along. Here's some:
1.I'm fine with makeup until the point that the girl finds her security, her beauty, in it. That's where I draw the line and get frustrated. You're pretty the way you are no matter what Hollywood defines beauty as!!!
2.I enjoy tv, internet, etc, but s*x is becoming a problem in them. It's for AFTER you marry the person, duh.
3. Most people don't know what love is anymore. It's usually about: what can I get out of somebody else? That's called being insincere which isn't love.
4. Judging is stupid. Of course I make mistakes and do it. But know this: you could be missing out on MANY friendships if you continue to judge them by what they look like.
ETC,ETC!! I obviously have alot to say about this, but I'll stop for now.
Missy
Can you relate at all?

So, so true! I don't want to grow up, but I, most definitly, do NOT want to stay a kid forever. I totally agree with the make up thing, it annoys the crap out of me more than anything when girls just put too much on! :[ Makes me want to cry...
I really enjoyed this piece!

Awwwww. Indeed, how that seems so long ago.
I like the line that went, "When we were kids technology wasn’t such a big deal. We would rather be outside enjoying the warm weather and nature." Yes! How true!! I was always playing outside in the sun with siblings, cousins and friends back then.
Good old days that now only remain as memories.

Oh, that was absolutely beautiful. I feel you completely, hombre. I don't see anything that I would change about it and didn't notice any mistakes off-hand.
I think the same way you do, getting older chugs the fat one. I like to think I've got a clever balance of Old and Child in my mind. I can be serious when I want to be, but for the most part, I'm care-free and laid-back and joke around like an immature stoner while still playing with action figures. Throw away my Dragonball Z figures? I think not. Get that Kamehameha prepared, bee-yoooootch~
My favorite line, though:
"When we were kids we had broken toys, not broken hearts."
Deep.

That was good!!!! I always wish teh same thing would happen to me, about going back in time and all.
Being little was SO much easyer. I would love not to know half the stuff I do know now that I'm older.
But, we all have to grow up sometime.
But at lest we know now what we DON'T want our kids to see when we have them!

Yeah ur right

Although it's been a VERY long time since I was a kid, these comments still ring true. The sense of 'childhood' I think has totally been lost. Kids are growing up way to fast in todays society. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful heartwarming piece.

Missy, I'm crying! (literally) That is totally true about your natural beauty. I wear makeup on my eyes and face, but it does hide stuff! In the summer, when my family and I were at a pizza shop when I didn't wear makeup, a guy commented on my eyes! Now I think of what beauty lies within them!
Thank-you so so so so so so so so much.
Your Friend Always,
Haley

Nice images here. I especially like the line "When we were kids, we had broken toys, not broken hearts." Mind if I quote it somewhere? =)
