She was an lost soul wondering around, looking for a family. Coming to a small kingdom, the King said all could try, to ride the birds of the guard. Bethany thought that if would be nice, to sit upon that magicial bird. To feel free and let the wind blow through her hair. So, as a young female she signed up.1
The guys could not get the bird to do much in the air, just fly in circles. They did not know it was their weight, for they were too heavy for fancy flying. When the guard called Bethany's name, and she stepped up, they were about to tell her men or boys only, then they saw their King, and he nodded yes. Bethany was to have her turn.2
She walked up and held out her hand, something the guys forgot, to let the bird know she meant it no harm. Then she petted it and whispered in his ear, only simple words of how she wish to fly free.3
Once Bethany was on the back, nodding to the bird, both went off the cliff. Then before anyone could make a sound, the wind caught them and they went skyward. Leading forward, and telling the bird that they could show the crowd a thing or two. The bird thought to her to hang on with her legs, as it started a nose dive, at the crowd, only to pull out and do a loop de'loop.4
Since she had did as she was told, she held on while the bird showed the crowd its attack abilities. Bethany was in the height of her glory; then the bird landed.5
The King approached her as she jumped off the back landing gracefully. Not knowing whom the man is, she stands next to the bird thanking it. The bird tells her that the King is standing behind her. She turns and drops to her knees. The King walks forward and offers her a hand to rise.6
She accepts it with grace, smiling at both bird and King. Telling the King her story as he asked, about being an orphan and only wishing to fly free once. The King offers to be her father, for none had been able to get that bird, to do anything in years. As it was his bird and he was wondering how she could get him to do things that no one else could.7
Bethany smiled and said that they talked to each other and it was only nature. She respected the might bird, and the bird knew she meant it no harm, and giggling she also include that she was lighter. So, by living and taking a chance, Bethany won a few things that day. A father, a bird to ride, respect of others, and mostly she won the knowledge that she was special.8
