Shadow Whisperings (Unfinished Rough Draft)

Prologue:1

Three medium sized shadows shot across the lawn in broad daylight. David took a step back from the window. "What the heck?" he asked aloud, receiving no reply as usual. There wasn't a cloud in the sky that day, nor were there birds or anything else that could have created those shadows. 2

He just chalked it up to his eyes playing tricks on him. So he forgot about it for a while, but it had been the beginning of something he'd never forget, if he lived long enough to.3

Week 1: The Voices4

If any one of the neighbors happened to look out their window around midnight, they might have seen the upstairs light of the Morison's house turn on. David couldn't sleep, there was a strange sound that kept bugging him.It was sort of like a hushed whispering, but it was starting to grow louder. There weren't any words being said, at least, none that he could hear. The sound finally died down around two so David got back in bed. As he was drifting off, he heard a small whisper in his ear. 'Dah-ved'5

He was too tired to give it a second thought. David later believed it to be some kind of strange dream, but he was wrong. Nothing happened for the rest of the week, but it wasn't over.6

Week 2: Close Contact7

He could hear some of what they were whispering now. The sound had started around two in the morning this time, right where it had left off a week before. He could only understand his name, it was said every minute or so,, separated by muffled whispers. He figured it was just his imagination. That's when the scratching began.8

It didn't last long, only a few minutes before the sounds stopped. It was four in the morning. David got back in bed,but he was woken up a few hours later by his mom, demanding to know why there were scratches all around the edges of his door.9

Week 3: The Shadows10

David had looked around his room for any signs of rats, he had looked every day since the scratches appeared. That's what it had to be, the scratch marks were so small. But he stopped looking when he finally thought to look at the window. There were tiny scratched all along the frame, but the scratches were on the glass. There was no ledge outside his window, but there were tiny deep scratches in the glass. So then... it couldn't be rats.Rats can't do that...11

Two nights passed before he was woken up by something brushing against his arm. He opened his eyes and glanced at the clock, it was four, the same time that the scratching had stopped. He felt it brush against him again and he shot up in an instant. He looked down and stopped. He sat there, blinking for a moment. He realized that he must be dreaming, because he could see a tiny formless shadow floating, yes floating in the air above his hand.12

David turned on his lanp and it was still there, he could see through it, it only made things appear a shade or so darker. He shook his head and rubbed his eyes. He froze when he heard a familiar small whisper. 'Dah-ved'13

"What the heck is going on lately?" he asked out loud, "this is the third weird dream I've had in less than a month!"14

*******Unfinished!********

I really need some constructive criticism on this piece, I put down the idea for a year or more so I'm not sure if it will meet the expectations made by the preview I posted a while back.
