The Joe Bro (Chapter 4)

The first song was, unfortunately, Kids of the Future. It was the only song of theirs that Elisabeth didn't enjoy. But she didn't care. Joe had pretty much stayed in center stage the whole time.1

"we're the kids, we're the kids! We're the kids of the future!" They finished while everyone screamed and clapped.2

"So tonight is a really special night for all of us," Joe started. "One, because you," he said pointing towards the audiense, "are here, watching us perform just for you.3

"The other is because today we've decided to let you decide," Nick joined in, "a special song that we sing."4

Everyone screamed at this, but Elisabeth held her breath. What if she was able to go on stage with them to annouynce what song she wanted to hear?5

At that moment, she looked up into Joe's eyes, silently begging him to call on her... as Joe looked down into hers.6

They both gasped. His eyes were so filled with life, love, and laughter in person. She knew instantly that this wasn't just a celebrity crush. Elisabeth was completely in love with him.7

Joe noticed that she wasn't like the other fans. She wasn't screaming at every word that he and his brothers said, and she was really attentive. The girl had been staring into his eyes all night. They hadn't wandered to look at Nick or Kevin once. Even though he was well used to the extra attention by now, it made him blush that he was the sole thing that she wanted to look at.8

"Joe, say your line." Kevin said through gritted teeth as he nudged him subtley.9

"Oh yeah! After a few more songs we will ask a question, and whoever has the answer will get to pick the special song... and we'll sing it to you."10

"When he says you," Kevin interrupted, "he means that we will sing our select song to whoever picked the select song."11

More girls screamed and the Jonas Brothers had to wait an extra minute before they could start their next song, Australia.12

The beat of the familiar song began to pulsate through Elisabeth's bones.13

Paula turned to her, ecstatic. This was one of her favorite songs. Her friend sang along to every word.14

But Elisa found herself disappointed. Joe hadn't looked at her throughout the refrain like she had hoped he would after looking into her eyes.15

They finished up and went straight into Goodnight and Goodbye. Usually Joe went crazy during this song, with tons of actions and movement, yet he kept glancing nervouslly down at Elisabeth. Was he embarassed to let himself loose with her right there?16

He stared down at her, silently wishing for her approval.17

Elisabeth shuddered in delight. Was he really looking at her for permission to dance?18

She nodded a little just in case. Sure enough, his face broke out into a huge grin and he started jamming out to the song.19

It suddenly seemed as if Joe had come to life to all the other fans, but Eliese knew that they had shared their second special moment of the night.20

And the third was yet to come.21

The guitar intro of Hello Beautiful began to be strummed.22

Nick started in with the usual 'Hello beautiful, how's it going?" While Joe reached his hand down into the audience. Girls behind Elise tried to reach for his hand, but couldn't quite grasp it.23

"But tonight, I'm gonna fly. Yeah tonight I'm gonna fly!" Joe sang into the mic as Elisabeth reached for his hand.24

"Cuz I could come across the world and see everything..." he took a breath when their hands entwined, but to Elise it seemed like a gasp.25

She had felt it too. LIke an electric current traveling between them. She smiled as he kneeled down on the stage and sang the last words... to her.26

"If I couldn't see those eyes."27

Their hearts wave pounding. She could feel his pulse strongly through his large hands.28

They both noticed it at the same time. Their hands fit perfectly together, each perfectly molding to the other's individual lines and grooves.. well, perfectly. It was like each hand was made to be held by the other.29

She blushed and pulled her hand back. It had only been a few seconds, but it seemed as if time had stopped for both of them. The second they touched it felt as if they were the only two people in the huge bul\ilding.30

"Okay, so it's time for our question." Joe said while standing up.31

"Joe, no it isn't." Nick stated plainly.32

"Oh, but it is." Joe argued back.33

Kevin tryed to stop them both by playing a few measures of the next song, but it didn't work.34

"Please?" Joe pleaded with his brothers.35

"Fine," they both said together. Of course Joe always had to get what he wanted.36

"OK. Who can answer this for me. Why is today important to you besides the fact that you are here?" Joe asked.37

"I pick you," he pointed and said to Elisabeth without pausing.38

He held the mic down to her. "What's your name?"39

Her voice caught in her throat. Was he allowed to do that? Pick her out of the thousands of girls screaming for him right now?40

"Elisabeth James." She said clearly.41

Joe's breath caught. Her voice sounding like Sunday morning bells, sweet and clear.42

"Why is today important for you?" Kevin jumped in. He could see what was happening. Joe was falling in love... and he was rendered speechless because of it.43

But he didn't know that Elisabeth would be speechless as well.44

Paula noticed though. She had heard her friend gasp every time Joe looked her way.45

She took the wireless microphone and said into it: "Today is her seventeenth birthday of course!" She handed the device back to Joe, and he and Elisabeth both turned to her and mouthed "Thank you."46

"Well Elisabeth James," he said with a smirk, "today is your lucky day. Guys, help me out will you?" He said as he reached down for Elisabeth's arm. 47

She felt her eyes glistening. He WANTED her on stage with him.48

Kevin rushed over to help her up too.49

The view of the stadium was completely different from the stafe. The aura had completely changed too. Everyone in the audience was glaring at her. Except her friend of course. She was smiling encouragingly even though she was slightly mad at Elisabeth.50

"I answered the question after all," she thought to herself. "Why didn't I get to go on stage and have Nick sing to me? Oh yeah, cuz Nick hasn't even noticed me... unlike Joe and Elise. Joy."51

She didn't realize that Nick HAD noticed her, but he didn't want to talk over to her because that would seem to obvious. He wasn't as straightforward as his brother.52

"So Elisabeth, what song would you like to hear?"53

She didn't even have to think.54

"Inseperable," she told Joe, and the beat started at her command.55

"Take my hand tonight," Joe started to sing, even though it wasn't his part in the song. He quickly motioned for Nick to stop singing his solo.56

Joe NEEDED to sing these lyrics to her, and he wasn't sure why.57

He led her to a raised platform on the right of the stage. It was eerily silent because no girl was screaming anymore.58

Rage was pounding through them all. None of them could see what was so special about "Elisabeth James."59

Joe lifted her up to the platform effortlessly and continued on in the song.60

"We could run forever, if we wanted to. I would not grow tired, because I'd be with you..."61

She spent the rest of the concert thinking about these 18 words and how he had sang them.62

Just for her.
