Letter to A New Mommy

Dear new Mommy,2

3

I am a retired labor and delivery nurse and childbirth educator.  I would like to offer some advice.  The most important thing you can do right now is to take a childbirth class at the hospital you are going to deliver.  I would hope that it would go over all stages of labor and what to expect, complications that could occur and what to expect, the rules and regulations of the birthing center, and a tour of the facilities.  Most of all I would hope they teach breathing and relaxation techniques.4

Breathing and relaxation are the most important techniques you can learn to be able to have the most loving and enjoyable birth.  They allow you to be in control over the pain and to not be afraid.  Even if you are choosing to have an epidural you still have to be in good labor before you can have an epidural.  So you need to know how to control the pain until you get an epidural.  6

If you started breathing and relaxation exercises now for 30 minutes every day and have a focal point that reminds you to relax, you will automatically relax when you see it.  You will also need a good support person to practice with who can help keep you relaxed and in control.  A good web site that teaches meditation breathing is myinnerworld.com and this would be a good way to practice everyday.  8

Your baby will know the sound of your voice and your smell and will know your touch from all the times you have rubbed your belly.  It really doesn't matter what method you choose because the love you have for your baby will transcend all situations as soon as you see and touch your baby.  Your and your child are forever connected with a bond that will never be broken.  Your baby picked you to be his/her mother because you can provide the best environment for he/she to learn their life lessons and the most important life lesson to teach is unconditional love and forgiveness for all and in all situations.  10

11

You are embarking on a wonderful journey of a lifetime.  Always leave the past behind and enjoy each momemt as it happens.  You can create your reality with your thoughts so keep them loving and kind and positive always and you and your child will always have a wonderful future to look forward to.  Love will overcome many sleepless nights, cholic, dirty diapers, and spitups.  Even these will create wonderful memories and stories to be told with love and happiness.  12

13

May you and your child be surrounded by the Light of Love, Happiness, Peace, Harmony, Good Health, and Prosperity in all things.14

Very kind and knowledgable words. You are a true inspiration not only to expectingmommy18 but to all of us to learn to slow down, focus and just breath. Love and forgiveness are ours to give freely. I think I will check out the website you posted though. I would like to start meditating and don't know where to start. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful words of wisdom.
