My opinion

My opinion about characters having sex in Young Adult books is that it would be ok. I mean, teenagers everywhere already know about sex. Many teenage books mention sex. Examples: Secret Life of Peaches, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and Someone Like You.1

In fact, I think that a Young Adult book that mentions sex would be really eye opening to some sheltered and even experienced kids. I think that television and computers glorify sex into thinking that it is fun and has no consiquences. In the book November Blues, it show the struggles and plain out embarassing stages of teenage pregnancy. 2

I would not put down a good book, like Twilight, just because Bella and Edward had sex.

    Thank you for sharing your opinion. I definitely agree with you when you say how TV and the Internet makes sex seem fun, and YA should show it in a different way. Thanks again for entering.
