Liberty

Can you smell it?1

The scent wafting towards us,2

Sweet and delicious,3

Perfume of 'freedom'.4

5

Can you feel it?6

Tugging at our toes,7

Teasingly soft caresses,8

Of awaited 'Liberation'.9

10

Can you hear it?11

Whispering our names,12

Beseechingly silent,13

The winds of 'Release'.14

15

Can you see it?16

Just over the horizon,17

Fleeting glimpses,18

Of dawning 'Liberty'.19

20

Run we must not,21

Savour the flavour,22

These cold shackels,23

Soon,24

No longer part of us.

It is the desire I admire...

    Liberty only comes from within....

    Wow

really like this, starting each part with a question really brought it to life for me, flows lovely and clear too, keep it up xxxx

  • Nice

I actually felt good reading this.. It was as if the beautiful scent wafted through my nose. I liken freedom to the smell of rain But maybe to others, it can be as the poem says; perfume.

I particularly adored the honest hopefulness of this poem (especially the "Can you see it" part). It's something that is a bit lacking in the world now. I'm glad to find this in your poem; it evokes hope and a joyful feeling to me as well

Thanks so much for this piece. ^_^ I enjoyed reading it

  • Great...

I really like the concept of this poetic piece, it's very inspiring, especially to people who are all about peace, liberty, and equality. These words spoke to me of freedom--both psychologically and literally.
Very original poem and good job!
