‘Imagination is being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes’1
I envy those who can pretend, for it is the most precious gift. Whether you are an actor or an author you bring meaning and hope to those who can see beyond work and the news; and I thankyou for it.2
It is novels such as Gormenghast and Alice in Wonderland that, admittedly are slightly absurd, are also the reason that we worship and hunger for adventure, love and a happy ending. They are truly revolutions of the imagination; we strive for sense, reason and knowledge, and because of this we loose the aspects of life that could open up a world such as Wonderland, or Gormenghast. 3
If there was a world where fairytales were real, would they be the same without normal boring society? For if there was no bank, war or politician then how could fantasy be appreciated?
