The cat who couldn't smile

There was a village cat named Laura. Laura has a problem. She can’t smile. No matter what happens, no matter how many jokes you make, she can’t smile. Her friends are beginning to get a little worried about Laura. They called Doctor Grant. Laura’s friends asked the doctor to check Laura over; because they were worried something had happened. One morning Doctor Grant checked Laura over. He couldn't’t find a reason for her not to smile. Every day for the next month he went round and did tests and experiments. In the meantime Laura’s best friend, Alex, did some research of her own. She had read in a book, that some people who couldn’t smile just needed someone to scare her so badly that she would laugh. Doctor Grant, agreed with this idea of scaring Laura so badly that she would laugh. Mean while Laura’s other friend, Anne, completely disagreed with this idea to the solution of the problem. Anne went round to Laura’s house one day, and said to her “A smile a day, keeps the doctor away.” Laura immediately smiled, and said “Will it keep him away?”  “Yes” Anne answered. Anne went of to tell the doctor he didn’t need to scare Laura and that it was a pretty stupid idea in the first place. The next day when the doctor went to check on Laura she was smiling! She was singing and dancing away like there was no tomorrow. The doctor came back the two days after that, and she was still smiling. Laura was very grateful, and thanked Anne.1
