"Once caught, it's harder still to let a pirate go..." (1)8
Annalisa Townsend's ship was attacked by pirates, and Anna was found by pirate James Sterling in the ship's hold. Annalisa begs him not to take her necklace, for it is all she has left of her mother, and Sterling accepts a kiss in exchange for the necklace.9
Now, over a year later, Anna travels the seas searching for James Sterling to reclaim her father's treasure - her father had been accused of being in league with Crimson Kelly (Sterling's boss) by Governor Rogers. Now, with the aid of Nathaniel Northrup, intent on reclaiming her family's honor and treasure, she sets after Sterling, revenge on her mind.10
She doesn't expect the vicious love triangle that ensues.11
"But now [Annalisa's] in danger of him stealing something far more valuable this time: her heart."(2)12
My Opinion: This book is definitely a page-turner, with plenty of action, as well as your typical - but no less interesting - love triangle. Jade Parker weaves these two plots together until they are inseperable, which is unusual and makes the story all the better. While there are some scenes that seem suspiciously close to the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, the book is mostly original, and is actually in most ways historically accurate (no zombie pirates in this one
).13This book as a fantastic plot with an satisfying conclusion, and the author masterfully combines history, fiction, and romance. This story is one you will remember.14
If you are looking for something new and original, then this book is definitely the right choice.15

Believe me, if it had been really anti-feminist, I would have dropped the book as soon as I opened it
