I remember watching the Wizard of Oz innumerable times as a child, but I had never really thought about tornadoe's growing up in Michigan. Then my dad got transferred to to a plant in Hillbillyville Kansas, where the fields stretch for eternity only to be inturrupted by the numerous spottings of trailor parks. Now sitting in this chair, my eyes staring out the window into the dark swirling clouds twisting around my house, I found it slightly ironic. "What kind of mad person rides a bike in a Tornado,"
But really that is not my main concern at the present moment. Here I was minding my own buisness, sitting in this lovely recliner reading Animal Farm when I dozed off. Only to be rudely awaken about an hour later, sitting in this same chair, the walls perfectly still, our mobile home still intact inside, but the house was careening through the air, twirling and spinning through dust and debris, past household items turned into projectile weapons, past unidentifiable flying objects, cars and wreckage. I had to do a cartoonish double take when I saw a horse fly by my window, it shocked me at first, thinking 'pegasi don't exist' just as it hit me...Our precious mobile home, with all of our stuff, was swirling through the sky without flying monkeys, mooing cows, lions, tin men, scarecrows or the musical accompanyment of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. This was really freakin happening! But the inside was till perfectly intact, remarkable! Mabe it was the perpetual motion that keeps water in a bucket as you swing it overhead, maybe it was the gravitational pull of the universe that keeps us from falling off the earth, keeping this pitiful, shell bandaged together with will until it comes crashing back down to the ground shattering into a million pieces left to blow in the wind. Whatever the force was I was taken back at the fact the inside of the house stayed pristine as ever, I walked freely back and forth, a little hungry from my nap I decided to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The whole walk into the kitchen I could only think...
"I hope I end up in Oz...at least I hope this house lands softly."1

Definitely got my attention with Animal Farm and the Wizard of Oz, and I loved it. The story was well-written, (although I missed the fact that it was a story...what did your character look like? Was it a he or a she?) and the problem becomes clear right away. Thank you for entering and good luck!
