In the band

I smiled nervously at the crowd cheering for an encore. I still hadn't gotten used to performing in front of such a large mass of people.
"I guess we could give you one more song!", shouted Josh, as he started strumming. 1

After the show we all unwound back stage.
"That was a great gig!", beamed Chris(the drummer).
"I know and they were all so loud! They were even head banging to our soft songs!", laughed Taylor(second guitarist). 2

"Hey I think we should change the order of our songs", Chris said suddenly serious.
"I like the order", I interrupted.
"Yeah but I think 'silent misery', would go better as the second song", Chris replied. We kept debating over the order of the songs until it was finally decided that 'silent misery' would be the third song, and all the other songs would revolve around that.3

"Hey we should go celebrate! Drinks on Chuck!", Taylor laughed.
"I'm in!", Chris and Josh yelled.
"Awesome, Alex you coming?", Chuck asked laughing(bass player).
"Sorry, Mum's got me on a tight leash. I'm already past curfew as it is", I sighed.
"Geesh your mum is harsh!", Josh exclaimed.
"I guess all the alcohol wouldn't be good on your vocal chords either", added Chuck.
"I guess not, well I'll see you all tomorrow", I said as I walked out the door.4

The cold hit me pretty fast, I dug through my pockets and pulled out my car keys.
"Hey Alex! You forgot your Jacket!", Josh yelled, as he ran up to me.
"Oh thanks, I knew I was forgetting something", I said shaking my head.
"No problem, so about practice tomorrow it's at 4pm but I was wondering if you'd like to...meet up before that", Josh said, suddenly shy.
"Like a pre-band practice?", I asked confused.
"No, I mean like- maybe a date?", He asked still looking at the ground.
"Oh...Well...ah...uhmm...I..."
"It's fine, I understand. Don't worry about it", He said, turning to walk away.5

"Wait!", I called after Josh. He stopped as I ran up to him.
"We have been friends for a while now right. I really don't want our friendship to be weird", I said unsure of how I thought of Josh.
"Yeah...Just friends", He sighed.
I felt a pang of guilt as his face crumpled.6

"Maybe we could try a relationship. Maybe we could be...more than friends", I said still looking at Josh. He stayed quiet.
"I will go on that date with you", I said taking his hand.
"Great, I'll pick you up at 12pm", Josh grinned as he kissed my hand.
"I can't wait", I said trying to smile.
"See you then", Josh smiled, running back to the others.7

I stood there silently. How did I think of him? Was he just a friend? Could he be more than a friend?...I guess I'll have to wait and see.
