Forever Friends

The sqeaking of the swings on that blissful playground. It was my heaven. You came up and sat on the swing next to me. I didn't know then that you were to be my angel. You introduced yourself as Michelle, told me what class you were in and asked me about mine. From then on we were to be best friends. I went to your house and we played like we were witches in the rain outside, watching the water flowing through the gutters carrying our spells to the ones we cast them upon. We would dance in the rain. So happy were we as we played in mother natures tears, unknowing that the droplets would later be the ones that hid our own tears.1

In fourth grade we met a girl, Victoria. She soon became our best friend. We were now a trio, inseperable by any force thrown our way. We stayed up late talking of boys and of what we would do when we were older and out of school, the trips we would plan together to foriegn countries. But Victoria, although we said we three would be forever friends, moved away and out of our lives and you and I were back to being a duo.2

When middle school came we somehow grew apart, not even realizing we had a class together, or that we had a class with someone who would soon change our lives. In eighth grade we became friends with that unnoticed girl, so quiet and reserved, and i returned to being your friend. Once again we were a trio. Our new friend, Leslie, was so unlike either of us it was hard for some to understand why we were so close. But soon she came out of her shell, laughing at things no one else would ever think funny, flicking rubber bands from braces, saying things in odd manners, having horrible hearing that caused us to thinkthat one of us was saying something that made absolutely no sense and wasn't anywhere close to what we were actually saying. We starting keeping a composition book that we wrote notes in back in forth. We used fake names and sometimes wrote in code so that no one could read it.3

The last day of eighth grade was horrible. We all thought i was going to a different school and since we didnt hang out much outside of school we were afraid our friendship would fall apart. We didnt know what we would do with our days seeing as they were always spent with eachother. We went to school and saw eachother in the morning, had some classes together, went to lunch together, walked to the buses together, and when school was out we talked on the phone for hours. What would happen to what we had become? It was the saddest, yet most loved i could have felt. I realized how much i meant to my friends and I hoped they knew that they meant just as much to me.4

I did not end up getting into the school i was going to, so things returned to normal. We were back to hanging out all the time and talking on the phone. i was somewhat relieved that i didnt get into the school i had wanted to because i now had my friends.5
