I looked out the window to the sky. It was so dark. The clouds seemed to swirl. They were the deepest shade of blue I had ever seen and were outlined in an ugly gray. Outside the house the wind whipped the trees. Piles of leaves swirled past in a fury. I knew that the storm was coming.1
I could feel my heart pounding hard as it approached. It pulled the curtains aside and peered around the corner. It was deserted out. There seemed to be no one in sight for miles. I looked out across the endless Kansas plains. The grass swayed back and forth quickly. I could hear the sounds of the strands of grass brushing against one another as my hearing grew more and more sharp.2
I couldn’t hide from it anymore. I had spent my whole life fighting against the curse, but now it was too late. I could feel it taking over my body. The storm was too powerful, and I could not leave. I would change now. The storm would change me into a Storm Fey. I felt like the storm, all its energy, was being transferred to me, and I could manipulate it. I could create the storm. I could mold it, change it, or end it. 3
I looked down at my arms. Bands of dark blue seemed to swirl under my translucent skin, much like the clouds that swirled overhead. Proof that the storm was changing me. I could fear the power coursing through my veins. The hair on my arms stuck up on end. My nerves tingled and it felt like I was a live wire. I let the curtain drop to the side and walked away from the window. 4
I had turned the lights off in the house. It was dark now, but there was no need for the electricity. I could see perfectly. I walked over to the wall in the living room and looked into the mirror. My hair had turned black. It ran down my back swaying like the wind. My eyes were an awful shade of black and the bags under my eyes were like two giant bruises. I ran my hands over my skin. It felt warm and humid. I frowned and dropped my hand. Swirling over my shoulder were two dark blue shadows.5
Wings.6
I shouldn’t have come here, I thought. I should have gone somewhere were the weather was less-less severe. 7
Change was coming. The wheather was changing me.8
I raked my hands through my damp hair and walked away from the window. 9
It wouldn’t be long now, I thought looking out the window again. No, it wouldn’t be long. 10
I walked across the room in my bare feet and over to the door. The walls rattled and the windows shook in their panes. I grabbed the door knob and pulled it open. The wind slammed the door into the wall denting it. I stepped out and left it open behind me. The wind whipped my hair across my face.11
In the distance I could hear the siren.12
A tornado was coming. 13
I ignored it and crossed my arms across my chest to keep warm. I looked across the plains. I could see a tall, long, gray, swirling mass forming down from the sky.14
There was a crack of thunder and a flash of lightening. My heart began to beat in tune with the flash of lightening. My head throbbed in response to the thunder. I looked up again. The bright yellow flash pierced the sky seeming to split it open. I took a deep breath and looked around me. I could see shadows moving about. They were many different colors: yellow, green, black, purple, and red. 15
I felt something brush against my back and looked to my shoulders. the blue clouds were clumping together forming light, feathery wings. I pursed my lips and turned back to the storm unfolding in front of me.16
The storm will change you. . You can’t escape it Melinda. You can run, but one day it will catch up to you. The storm will come for you.17
I frowned and took another step forward. Around me I could hear the sound of the rain beating down on the trees, the cement, and the house. It soaked my hair. The faster I walked the harder the rain seemed to fall. I lifted my hand to the sky and a bolt of lightening split the sky. I stopped and the rain slowed to a drizzle.18
The rain cleared my vision. I could make out the shapes around me now. They were fairies.19
There were so many different kinds. There were summer fey, dark fey, winter fey, and spring fey. They were all there, and I was now part of their world.20
They watched me with interest. I was entering into their world. Some smiled, others scowled, and others ran in fear. 21
I looked across the plains and watched as the tornado touched now. My heart began to pound frantically and a strange warmth erupted inside me. The bands underneath my skin twirled faster. I could feel my wings wrapping around me. I could see the fey so clearly. Everything was clearer, more distinct. I could hear the sounds of the storm around me. I continued to walk making my way through the fey trying to find one of my own. 22
They watched in wonder as I broke into a run and the rains around me fell in a torrent. Thunder clapped overhead as my feet pounded down on the ground. I blinked and lightning pierced the sky once more. The storm had connected me to the whether. I could now control the storms. I could create them now.23
I could do nothing, but run. I was part of a new word. It was a new life. The storms had created me and in vengeance I would create them. 24

Wow! That was amazing! When I thought of this prompt, I never thought I'd get something like this. The beginning completely outlines the problem and draws the reader in. The ending, which was absolutely amazing. The middle kinda lost me a few times, though. What were the swirling images under her skin? The pace of the overall story was upbeat and not boring at all. There are only some grammatical errors though, (some being the key word) anyway, bravo!
