“Its a love story baby just say yessss ... “ Is the song that had woken me up this morning. I had an alarm on my cell phone with different ringtones to wake me up each morning.1

It was Febuary 2nd 2009. AKA the first day at a new highschool. They where starting a new semester today so I wouldn’t have to catch up on very much there.2

But I hated going to a new school. My mom is a work-a-holic so her boss is constintly moving us around. I hated making new friends, leaving old ones behind. I was in grade 9 and ive already moved at least twice. This was the third highschool. But it was great that it was the start of a new semester.3

I went to my closet and picked out something to wear. I picked carefully because I didn’t want to be swept up into the wrong crowd on the first day.4

I setteled on my favourite blue and silver t-shirt and my black skinny jeans and black converse.5

I looked at my hair and decided to take a shower. I placed my clothes on the sink and hopped into the shower.6

After about 15 minutes I got out and dryed my hair and straightened it, then brushed my teeth and styled my hair.7

“Breakfast is ready!” I heard mom yelling from downstairs. I went to the stairs and could already smell ... BLUEBERRY PANCAKES! Yummm.. my favourite. I guessed mom was just sucking up to me for making me switch schools once again. Oh well I didnt mind her sucking up to me, if it ment blue berrie pancakes!8

“So are you excited to be starting at a new school?” Mom asked.9

I just looked at her, and rolled my eyes.10

“Mom. Am I EVER happy?” I asked11

“No but this is a very good school, it has the best preforming arts program there. Many productions a year.” she said12

“Whatever” I said getting up and putting my dish in the dish washer.13

“Am I driving you?” She asked me.14

“Sure” I said15

“Great get in the car.”16

We drove to school and I looked up at it as soon we pulled up, it was huge. The name of it was “Desk Top High” weird name I thought to myself.

I was walking down the hall when I saw him standing there. He looked my way, but I had looked down. He was the cutest guy I have ever seen. I didnt even know his name. But I already knew he had brown eyes and brown hair. He was about my height. I was new at this school, and didnt know where my homeroom was. So I had walked up to this increadably cute guy and asked him where room 129 was.18

“Oh , thats on first floor. And thats also the same room as I have to.” He had said in a voice so soft and sweet. I almost melted.19

“Oh, do you happen to know where locker 1340 is?” I also asked him.20

“Thats on first floor as well, right across from room 129.” he had said21

That would be easy since my locker was right across from homeroom.22

We where on third floor, and there was about five minutes till the bell would ring. So I asked this guy (who was still nameless) to guide me down to my locker so I could put my books in it.23

“No problum, whats your other classes? “ He asked me curiously.24

“Tech, Geography, English, Music.” I told him.25

“Thats great. Your in my english class to.” He said sweetly.26

Just then the bell rang and I fallowed him down to first floor where my locker would be located. 1340, and my combo was 0, 30, 45. Pretty easy. I got it on the first try, I hoped it would be like that for the rest of the semester.27

I walked into the classroom and stood againts the blackboard. The teacher was going to assign us computers. He tapped a student on the shoulder then called out a number and told them to go to that computer.28

“Tyler, number 5” I heard him say.29

So the guy I had met this mornings name was Tyler. I like it, very nice name I had thought to myself.30

He walked over to a computer and sat down.31

“Sydney Ann, computer 6.” The teacher said to me. I smiled. My computer was next to Tyler’s.32

I went and sat down.33

“Hey, so I guess where tech partners then.” Said Tyler winking at me.34

I smiled shyly back at him.35

This was going to be a fun semester. I could tell.36

As soon as we all got assigned computers, the teacher went over the rules of the classroom. I looked around and noticed every one was really bored. Tyler was bored to. Then as soon as I knew it the bell had rang.37

“What class do you have next?” I asked Tyler.38

“Gym..” he said groaning.39

“Oh, I have geography. Its on second floor right?” I asked pointing to my schedual.40

“Yea, as soon as u go up that back staircase its like right there.” He said.41

“Okay, thanks. I guess i’ll uhmm… see you later?” I said reluctant to say goodbye.42

“Deffenitly,” Then he hugged me and ran off.43

I stood there in shock for a second then ran up the back staircase like Tyler said. I looked around for room 234. I couldnt find it.. I was spinning around in circles then I bumped into a girl with shortish blackish blue hair.44

“Whoops im so sorry!” We both said at the same time.45

“its okay,” I said “Im Sydney by the way.”46

“Hey, Im Alisha. What class do you have right now?” she asked me.47

“Uhmm.. geography room 234” I said.48

“Me to!” She said.49

“My friend said its right near the back stair case but I...” I turned around and saw room 234. We where standing right in front of it.50

We both laughed and walked in.51

I walked into the large classroom and sat down next to alisha. On the other side of me sat another girl, Alisha introduced me to her.52

“This is Jessica, Jessica this is Sydney” Said alisha to Jessica.53

“Hey” Jessica said confidently.54

“Hey,” I said just as confidently.55

“So hows your day going so far?” Jessica asked me.56

“Pretty good, I had tech first thing this morning.” I told them.57

“Cool, what other classes do u have?” Alsiha asked.58

“English and Music” I said59

“Oh , same for the both of us. “ Alsiha said looking down at my schedual.
“Oh! Same teacher!”60

“Thats great!” I said61

“What are you doing at lunch?” Alisha asked me.62

“Nothing really, probably just going to take a walk around school, get furmiler with the place I guess” I told her.63

“Oh cool.” She said.64

It was about five minutes till the bell, I stared at it hoping that it would ring.65

“Where is your locker?” Alisha asked.66

“Its on first, 1340” I told her.67

“OMG! Mine is 1341!” She said happily.68

“Awsomee!” I said.69

Just then the bell rang and me and Alisha walked down to our lockers.70

I was putting my geo binder in my locker when I felt a tap on my shoulder, I turned around to see Tyler standing right behind me.71

“Tyler!” I said smiling at him.72

“Hey! What are you doing this lunch period? I was thinking if you wernt doing much that.. maybe we could take a walk and uhmm.. I could show you around the school?” He asked all shy.73

“Sure, Id like that.” I said smiling at him.74

“Thats great!” He said. “I just have to go up to my locker first.”75

“Okay.” I said76

“Come with me?” He asked hopefully.77

“Sure” I said smiling at him.78

We made our way trough the crowd in the hall and walked up to third floor where Tylers locker was located.79

After he had put his stuff into his locker, we walked around first floor and he showed me where all the different classrooms where.80

“Thats the french room on that side, and thats the english room on the other side. Right there is the math room, and another math room. Thats the resource room right there, thats the girls bathroom, and boys bathroom. All down that hall is science class rooms.”81

We went up to third floor again.82

“Hey guys!” Tyler said to a couple of guys who seemed to be his friends.83

“Hey, whos the girl?” One of his friends said looking at me oddly.84

“Oh , right guys this is Sydney. Shes new here, I was just showing her around the school.” He said to them.85

I smiled shyly at them.86

“Where are you from?” One of his friends asked me.87

“Uhmm.. I come from Toronto then my mom got moved to Sudbury then we just got switched here to the Sault.” I told them.88

“Oh cool, toronto. Big city. Celebritys. Awsome.” One of them said.89

“Yahh..” I said.90

“You okay Sydney?” Tyler asked me concerned.91

“Im fine.” I said smiling at him.92

I looked at the clock and there was about 10 minutes intill the bell.93

“Im going to go down to my locker and get my english stuff.” I said to Tyler.94

“Okay, im going to come with you.” He said giving me that sweet smile that he had when I first met him that morning.95

“Bye guys.” Tyler said waving to his friends.96

“Later man” they said back.97

“Your’re friends are cool.” I said to him.98

“I know, there kind of mean sometimes to. They get pisse.d at me if I don’t do somethings with them.” He said looking the floor.99

“Like what?” I asked curiously.100

“They have tried to get me to shoplift and smoke drugs with them. But I always say no. Then they get pissed.” He said.101

“What kind of friends are they if they try and get you to do stuff you don’t want to do?”102

“Not very good friends.” He said sadly.103

“Right. I had a group like that at my old school, they tried to get me to do stuff like you said but I simply refused. So they ditched me. But I made new friends quickly.” I told him.104

“Thats great then!” He said as we reached my locker.105

“Not really, I got bad rumors spread about me. And people started to hate me. But my true friends stuck by my side. I was really sad to leave them, but I promised that I would stay in touch.” 106

I got my stuff for english class and me and Tyler walked back up to third floor. I saw my new friends Jessica and Alisha talking to some other girl that I didn’t know. She had short redish brown hair. I walked up to Alisha and Jessica and said hi, hoping that they would introduce me to there friend.107

“Hey Sydney, this is Vennetta. Vennetta this is Sydney.”108

“Hi” We both said at the same time.109

“She is in our english class with us” Said Jessica110

“Oh cool”111

“Sydney.. that guy over there is staring at you.” Alisha said.112

“Oh, thats Tyler. I know him, he showed me around the school at lunch time. Where friends I guess.” I said smiling.113

“Awwww.” Vennetta said laughing.114

Just then the bell rang and we all walked to english class.115

Me Vennetta, Alisha and Jessica sat towards the back of the classroom and watched as all the other students came in and sat down. Then Tyler walked in and sat two seats away from me. 116

“So Sydney, where abouts do you live?” Jessica asked.117

“40 cambel street.” I told her118

“Awsome, I live over on Medow av.” She said119

“Near that park by there?” I asked120

“Yeah, why do you ask?”121

“Very nice Tyler, any pets?” She asked him.122

“No, my dog Baily died last year.” He said sadly.123

“Oh, well thats quite a shame isnt it?” The teacher said moving onto the next person.
She went around the class room getting everyone to say a couple of things about themselves to the class.124

“Alisha your turn.”125

She groaned but then started to indtroduce herself.126

“Hey! Im Alisha Gahta! I live with my mom and my dad and my fish Kitty. I moved here just last year. My favourite subject so far is math! I like math! Its fun! Im in academic. Im really great at it!” She stopped talking and setteled down finally.127

I noticed Alisha had a great bubbily personality. I figured I would soon be great friends with her.128


“No reason. My gramma lives by there” I told her.129

I looked over at Tyler and saw that he was writing in some sort of book with some drawings in it. He saw me looking at him and blushed.130

I just smiled back and went back to my friends.131

Class started and the teacher started introducing everyone to each other. So we could all get to know each other for the semester. When It came around to my turn I said132

“Im Sydney Ann Turner. I live in the sault with my mom and my cat. I moved here not that long ago from sudbury. I enjoy writing poetry, singing, acting, dancing, basketball, soccor, drawing and running. So far my favourite subject this semester is tech because I enjoy building things. I listen to any kind of music”133

“Really nice Sydney. Tyler your next.” Said the teacher.134

He looked around the room and started mumbling to his paper. I noticed he was kind of shy.135

“Im sorry but what was that?” The teacher asked him.136

“Im Tyler Jefferson and Ive lived in the sault for about 5 years with my mom and stepdad. I also like writing poetry and drawing.” he said looking over at me, as if he was trying to impress me.137

“I also will listen to any kind of music, except country.” He said laughing138


There was about a half hour intill the bell, there where still a couple more students who needed to introduce themselves. Like Vennetta and Jessica.139

“Jessica its your turn.”140

“Im Jessica Manica. I live with my mom and dad, and a brother and a sister. Oh and my two dogs. I like to listen to wahtever. I also like to dance, and sing. And acting to.”141

Then she went on to Vennetta.142

“Im Vennetta Snow. I live with my mom and dad and younger sister. I listen to old music, I sorta grew up on it cause of my parents. I like reading. And so far my favourite subject is art. I have it right in the morning as my homeroom.”143

“Thats great, so everyone has introduced themselves to one another. Take out your books and read for the next 15 minutes quietly.”144

At that moment the bell rang and everyone walked out. I grabbed all my papers so it took me a minute to get out. Once I got out of the class room I saw Tyler standing at the door waiting for me.145

“Hey, what class do you have now?” He asked me.146

“Music. Room 121. Its near my locker. “ I told him147

“Oh, I have science. So i’ll see you later.” He said hugging me once again and turned away to his locker.148

I felt a spark fly when he hugged me. It flew trough my head and landed at my feet. I sighed happily and walked down to first and saw Jessica and Alisha standing by the door waiting for the teacher.149

“Hey guys.”150

“Hey, So do you or don’t you like Tyler?” Alisha asked me.151

“You like Tyler?” Jessica asked softly.152

“I think I do, like I don’t really know him all that well yet. I just met him. “ I told them.153

“I could tell by the way he was looking at you, and the way he waited for you after class that he likes you.”154

I wasn’t too sure about that.155

“Maybe he does, maybe he does.” I said to myself.156

I wasn’t to sure if it was to early to question if I liked him or not. I wasn’t really sure. Suddenly the teacher came down and opened the door. I walked into the room, there where a bunch of computers all lined up in rows. And a computer at the front of the class which was probably the teachers. Me, Jessica and Alisha walked toward the back and sat down at the three avalible computers there.157

“Okay class. Welcome to instermental music. In this class you will learn to play different insterments and record there sound. Somedays you will be down here, others you will be in our classroom upstairs with the instermants that will be assigned to you. This is a very fun corse and I hope you enjoy it.” She said.158

“Now for your first instruction, turn on your computers and log in. Then go into the piano file and start playing the first five notes on your piano keybored.”159

I logged in as she said and turned on the piano. I already knew how to play from years of musical training. I looked to the side of the computer and noticed that there where a set of headphones, so I put my hand up and asked the teacher if we had to use them.160

“Yes, Sydney makes a great point. Plug in you your headphones on the side of the computer.” With that she walked away.161

So I plugged them in and just started playing.162

“Wow.. Sydney. Your really good.” Alisha said.163

“Thank you,” I said blushing.164

“No problum. Have you ever had any training?”165

“Yeah a little bit, then I had to quit. My mom couldnt afford it. Even with her two jobs” I said sadly.166

“Oh, ive never had any musical training. I just wanted to take music cause im not so good at art.” Alisha said laughing going back to her computer.167

“Alisha, can you tell me a little bit about Tyler. I mean, if you know him? Cause I think I like him. I just want to get to know him a little bit better then I do.” I asked her.168

“Oh, Well i went to my elementry with him for a year. Then I moved. He is kinda shy and quiet. He’s into writing poetry and drawing and stuff. He’s really funny once you get to know him. And he’s a little on the immuture side to. But what do you expect? He’s a guy!” She said laughing.169

“Haha, right.” I laughed. “Do you know if he likes, or is dating anyone?” I asked.170

“Not that I know of. But a couple of girls do like him, but they like him for the wrong reasons. They like him for his looks and not because he is nice.” She said.171

“Alright thanks, all I needed to know”172

I looked at the clock. Half hour left till the bell. I realized then I had to go to the bathroom. I knew that the first floor and second floor bathrooms where being cleaned, so I had to walk all the way up to third. Ughh.. oh well. I put my hand up anyway.173

“Can I please go to the bathroom?” I asked the teacher nicely.174

“Go right ahead, just sign out.” She said handing me a pen.175

I went to the signout sheet and wrote my name down and left the class room and walked down the hall to the back staircase. Possibly the quickest way to the third floor bathrooms.176

After going to the bathroom I decided to go a different way. By Tylers locker. I turned the courner to that hall and noticed he was at his locker.177

“Heyy!” I said walking towards him.178

“Hey. What are you doing up here?” He said laughing.179

“Bathroom.” I told him laughing.180

“Oh, im just getting somthing out of my bag. Frig I hate science. The teacher is a old hag.” He said looking sad.181

“Aww, don’t be sad.” I told him.182

“Sorry. Hey uhmm.. do what bus do you take home? Or do you walk?” He asked183

“I take the bus, and its like bus 15 or something.” I told him.184

“Oh mines 15 as well. Uhmm.. i’ll meet you at your locker after class okay? I have to go back to science or the teacher will spaz.”185

“Okay, see you later.” I said turning around and walking back towards music.186

I walked in and sat back at my computer.187

“What took you so long?“Alisha asked me.188

“haha, I was talking to Tyler at his locker.” I told her189

She started poking me.190

“He likes you, he likes you, he likes you.”191

Jessica looked over at us.192

“Who likes who?!” She said totally not knowing what was going on in the conversation.193

“Tyler likes Sydney, Tyler likes Sydney, Tyler likes Sydney!” She said laughing.194

“He barley knows me. How can he like me?” I asked her.195

“Well, love at first sight. And your really the only girl he talks to really. Thats a sign he likes someone is when he is always talking to them.” Alisha said.196

“Oh.” I said with a smile appearing on my face.197

“Ughh.. when is this bell gonna ring?” Alisha asked impatiently.198

“Haha 5 minutes” I said looking at my watch.199

“I can’t wait to go home, im so tired. I barley slept last night. Im probably just going to watch TV or something.” She said quickly.200

“Wow, your a quick talker.” I told her laughing.201

“Im a hyper person. Even when im tired.” She laughed.202

I logged my computer off. The bell was about to ring in…203

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 ... BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIINGGGGG!!!!204

“Wow that was loud.” I said walking out of the classroom and down the hall to my locker.205

“Yah the home bell is louder then the class bells for some reason.” Alisha said opening her locker.206

I put my binders in my backpack and hung some photos on my locker door when I felt once again a tap on my shoulder.207

“So where do you live excatly?” I asked Tyler curiously while waiting for our bus.208

“43 cambel street.” He said.209

“Oh .. im in number 40.” I told him.210

“Really?! I knew you looked firmiler” He said.211

“OMG! I thought saw someone that looked like you playing with a dog in the snow.” I said laughing212

“Yah, it was my cousins dog. I was baby sitting her.” He said.213

“Oh. Awsome.”214

Just then our bus pulled up and we got on and sat in a seat nearest to the back.215

“So, how long is this bus ride excatly?” I asked Tyler.216

“Mhmm… about half hour, not that long.” He said smiling.217

“Oh okay.” I said looking out the window.218

We had started talking and telling each other about our lives up to that point in time. I had told him everything I havnt told anyone else.219

’Wow, after knowing him for not only a day and I feel as if I could tell him anything, I think I do like him.’ I thought to myself.220

Finally the bus pulled up to our stop and me and Tyler got off. We walked up the street to our houses. Still talking and sharing, well basicly. Everything with eachother.221

“Well, this is my house.” I said to Tyler walking up the driveway.222

“Wait!” He shouted.223

He ran up to me and kissed me softly on the cheek.224

“I’ll see you later.” He said and walked out of the driveway and to his house225

I screamed happily and watched him go into his house, then I turned and made my way into my own and saw my mom watching TV in the living room.226

“Hey mom!” I said to my mom happily.227

“Hey honey. How was the first day?” Mom asked.228

“GREAT!” I practicly shouted.229

“Really… make any new friends?” She asked.230

“Yup!” I said happily.231

“Oh really… what are there names...?”232

“Tyler, Jessica, Alisha and Vennetta.” I said saying Tyler’s name first.233

“Tyler?” She asked curiously.234

“Yup. Hes in my home room, and he showed me around the school. And ... I think he likes me.” I said with a smile planted firmly on my face.235

“And how can you be so sure about that?”236

“He kissed me on the cheek just now!” I said237

“Oh really. I would like to meet this boy.” She said with that annoying ‘worried mother’ voice.238

“Moooommmmm!” I whinned.239

“Okay, okay. Never mind. Now dinner is at 6. Why don’t you go and unpack your room somemore.” She said.240

“Alright.” I said walking to my room.241

I walked into my room and started to unpack the boxes that where piled up.242

I hated unpacking.243

Ive moved oh lets say… about at least SIX times in the past 5 years. It all started when my parents got divorced and my mom was being a single mother, while my dad had walked out and left just me and my mom to defend for ourselves. My dad was an alchoholic so he was always drunk. He had moved to california and married some blond chick who was like AGES younger then her. I didn’t really care. I hated my father.244

While I was unpacking my things the phone rang.246

“Hello.” I said.247

There was silence on the other end, and heavy breathing. Then the person on the other end began to speak.248

“U better keep your mouth shut.” Is what I heard.249

About what? I wondered.250

“Who is this.” I asked scared.251

The person hung up. 253

put the phone back on its charger.254

“SYDNEY!” I heard my mom yelling from downstairs.255

I opened my door.256

“Yeah mom?”257

“Who called?” She asked.258

“Oh, wrong number.” I said.259

“Alright, wash up for supper in ten minutes.” She shouted up the stairs. “Oh and your grandparents are coming for supper to, so not to much make up okay.”260

“Alright mom”261

Why where my grandparents coming over? They lived like 500 miles away from jere.262

Oh well, probably one of my grandmas crazy vacations.263

I went to the washroom to get ready for supper, since my grandparents where coming over I didnt wanna wear to much make up. It makes them get all264

“Oh my, your such a young lady growing up so fast!”265

Ughh.. oh how I hated that.266

I washed up and put on very little make up and a dress my mom bought for me that she makes me wear if we have company.267

Mostly my grandparents.268

While I was putting on make up I saw a shadow behind me. I turned around.269

No one was there.270


I walked down stairs to see my grandma/pa and mom sitting in the living room.271

“Hey, Grandma and Grampa.” I said.272

“Hey darling, You look so grown up!” She said pinching my cheeks.273

“Thanks grandma. Its great to see you.” I said hugging her while my cheeks went back to there natural coulor once again.275

“Hows school.” Grampa asked.276

“Great!” I said happily.277

“Whats that!?” He asked.278

He’s a little bit hard-of-hearing.279

“GREAT!” I shouted.280

“Shave?” He asked confused.281

I shook my head looking over to grandma for help.282

“She said its GR-EA-T!” She said slowly.283

“Oh, I like grapes!” He said.284

“Enough of that.” Grandma said walking into the kitchen.285
