Vampric Blood Valentine Special

If you don't know, the main character (Karma) is a vampire who is dating Brent, the human. She has a vampire brother, Will, and goes to school because she gets bored easily without it.1

And now, for the story.2

Light snow coated the ground, despite the slightly warm weather. Brent held my hand as we sat on the wooden park bench, watching the young children on the playground across the street squeal with delight. The white landscape was calming, and I felt myself lean back onto the bench, relaxing my muscles. My worries about the next day began to fade slightly as I sat there, holding Brent's warn and pulsing hand.3

Tomorrow. Valentine's Day was only a day away. Not only that, it was my birthday, as well as the day Brent and I officially met. So much happening in only one day. I wasn't ready for it. I readjusted in the park bench and looked at Brent. As he noticed my gaze, he turned his head slightly to meet my eyes. He gave me one of his reassuring smiles before saying anything.4

"Karma, I love you. I love you beyond words are capable of describing, and I always will. You don't have anything to worry about, silly." As he spoke, my worries faded and he pulled me into a hug. He let out a small shiver; it was still winter, after all, and I was a vampire with no body heat to warm him with an embrace. Even though he must have been cold, he didn't complain as I hugged him back and leaned my head on his gentle shoulder.5

As Brent pulled away and sat upright again, I felt thankful for having him. Looking around, I saw just how lucky I was. I knew a human who I was madly in love with, and by some chance he felt the same about me. Best of all, I didn't have to hide anything about me or my vampric blood when I was around him. He had accepted the fact that I was a vampire, and he loved me enough to not care.6

The kids on the playground were still running around happily, completely oblivious to the love between Brent and me. A dove twittered above me on the tree branch and my sensitive hearing picked up on the gentle flapping of its spreading wings, preparing for flight. I paid no attention to the bird- I could only only manage to stare deeply into Brent's loving eyes, Brent's caring and trusting-7

"Aahg!" I exclaimed, jumping up and attempting to shove off the wet mass of snow that had fallen on top of my head from the branch above, cause by the spreading of the bird's wings. Brent laughed. "It's not funny! It's wet and humiliating!" I exclaimed tearfully, but Brent took no notice as he ruffled my hair and brushed off most of the snow, leaving only a few flakes that were caught in my dark black hair. His touch was warm, despite the cold snow it held. He chuckled slightly and spoke.8

"Silly, I know you could have dodged that!" Brent said playfully, smiling and ruffling my hair again. I couldn't help myself from laughing along with him.9

Later that day, Brent and I sat on the couch in my living room. He held a hot cup of coco in his hand; I, some cinnamon seasoned blood. Brent added a marshmallow to his cup and took a long sip. He let out a happy sigh and spoke in a calm tone.10

"It's kind of cold, but this drink really warms me up. Where did you learn to make coco like this, anyways? It's really good." As he spoke, he moved a lock of my hair out of my face. I smiled.11

"When you've been around for hundreds of years, you learn a few things," I responded playfully as he gently kissed my cheek.12

"It's the perfect flavor for this season. Valentine's Day is tomorrow, and it has all the flavors of love," he responded, putting his arm around my shoulder. "Plus," he added with another note, "It warms me up enough to hug you more!" I nuzzled against him happily, but the worry of the next day still lingered in the air around me.13

My eyes popped open. Today was the day. It was my birthday, Valentine's Day, and the anniversary of Brent and me meeting. As I sat up, I was greeted with a wave of dizziness and was forced to take a seat. I wasn't ready. Maybe, by some chance, Brent wouldn't make a big deal out of this. Maybe, by some chance, I could pretend this was any other day, go to school, and be shunned by everyone except Brent. I couldn't ignore Valentine's Day, though- it was such a big deal to everyone else. Maybe I would only get one card like last year. If I was really lucky, I would have slept through the 14th.14

Even though I wished and hoped and pleaded, when I looked at the calendar it was still the 14th of February. Looking in my full-length mirror, I saw the mess I was. Grabbing a brush, I sat down and began working on the large knot on top of my head. After I succeeded in untangling it, it looked like a frizzy mess. I rushed to my bathroom, plugged in the straightener, and rushed back. I flung open my closet and panicked.15

I had nothing to wear. Black, black, black, gray, orange, gray, green... I flung the shirts to the side, searching for something appropriate to wear. Finally, I came up with a cute pink and black striped shirt. I set that on my bed and dug through the pile of pants in my closet. I pushed things aside, making an even bigger mess. After dozens of rejects, I emerged with an acceptable object of clothing- a black skirt with a red sideways belt-sash.16

I was not a supermodel, but I looked the best I had in years. My hair was straightened, my clothes were acceptable, and my makeup was adorable. It was hard to conceal my red eyes, though. Because it was the day of my rebirth, my vampric powers were increased. I couldn't help the blood-red glare of my eyes, but I knew Brent wouldn't care. I was unbelievably blessed to have a boyfriend who knew - and loved - my vampric blood.17

I gazed into the mirror again. My straight hair shifted gracefully from side to side when I walked. From multiple decades to practice, my makeup was flawless. My clothes- well, my clothes could be better. I never really needed to look nice in this life. Vampires don't usually care how they look, so mirrors are never necessities. That is probably where the legend that vampires don't have reflections came from- we shy away from mirrors, usually. Scanning myself from top to bottom in the mirror for mistakes, I found few. When I wanted to look nice, I could. Excluding the clothes.18

I shut my locker, carrying the bag of cards I had made the night before into the small homeroom I shared with Brent and multiple other students. Everyone around the room was chatting and giggling and flirting. The air was so heavily scented with chocolate it made me gag. I made my way around the room slowly, passing out my cards and scanning the room for Brent. I was surprised to see some people setting cards on my desk. Slightly pleased with the cards I had received, I was deep in thought and nearly ran into Brent when I turned around.19

"What are you doing, silly?" he asked and tapped my nose. The other hand remained behind his back. "Happy birthday, by the way."20

"Thanks. I've been passing out cards and looking for you," I responded, still smiling. "Oh, I've got something for you." I reached into my bag of cards and dug through until I pulled out a homemade bag of cinnamon-scented powder. "It's some of the coco you liked. I made some more and packaged it for you. You need to add milk first," I said, handing him the carefully wrapped package. It had a sticker I put on it that said "To Brent, From Karma."21

"Thanks, silly! I was really craving more of that delicious coco of yours," he said and ruffled my hair. "Oh, and I have something for you as well!" He pulled his other hand into view and handed me a heart-shaped box of chocolates.22

"Brent, you shouldn't have," I told him happily as I popped the top off and looked inside. The chocolates had 'K's on top of each one and had an alluring scent. Brent leaned over and whispered in my ear.23

"I filled them with blood. Will gave me the idea and a few blood packets. I got regular chocolates and replaced the filling with blood," he whispered to me proudly. I smiled and hugged him.24

"You're so considerate," I told him sincerely as he ruffled my hair, "I'm sure these will taste great."25

"I would do anything if it made you happy," he told me.26

I sat at home at my kitchen's counter, unloading my backpack. I pulled out the box of heart chocolates from Brent and lifted off the lid. The chocolates still looked delicious. I could smell the scent of the blood from the center. I picked one up and ate it, discovering it was as delicious as it smelled. Will walked in the room and chuckled when he saw the chocolates. He picked one up and popped it in his mouth, swallowing it before I could complain.27

"Hey!" I protested as Will laughed and walked away, chewing the delicious vampire chocolate from my very own Brent.

Author notes

This is the Valentine's Day special, much like the Christmas Special I did in December. Sorry it's so late- I couldn't motivate myself. Anyways, I want to point out the ending. I had no idea how I was going to end it, but the I got the idea to have Will tease Karma. It's such a brotherly thing to do...

This was really good. I haven't read any of your other stuff, so I wasn't aware of any background information, but it was still enjoyable to read. There are a few spelling or grammar mistakes here and there, but they don't detract from the story much. It's really sweet, and I like the idea of the vampire chocolates, lol. I also like that your main vampire character isn't amazingly gorgeous - it seems that ever since Twilight, every vampire has to be a supermodel.

    Yes

Yes, this was enjoyable I enjoyed every part of it, good flow and rythme. you kept the reader glue to what will happen next. Emotion, I felt as if I was in her shoes, tring to fit in and not eat my boyfriend. The beginning was brillant I loved how you used the time of day, the middle great climax of her feelings about Valintines Day and the ending was cute!

Since Valintine is coming up you can say this story impacts the imagination to those who dont, have lovers yet and dream to have them.

Anyways I love this pice!....your better then me.

    lol
