The Characters:
Jennifer Girl about 16-17 years old she has snakebites and dark curly hair.
Abby Jennifer’s crazy friend arguing with Jennifer. Trying to get Jennifer to speak the truth that she has been waiting for all year for two years
Bryce Jennifer, Abby, and Walker’s friend. He too is trying to get Jennifer to say what Abby wants her to. He too is emo
Walker Friend, also emo. Trying to convince jen that she is one of them, an emo
Act 1 description:
 We enter on a skinny girl. She has curly hair and snakebites, she is reading a couple lines of poetry that she wrote and is trying out on her friends who are all trying to convince her that she is in fact, emo. Jennifer, Bryce, and Abby are sitting there eating lunch waiting for Walker.2

Jennifer: Ok guys, heres one that I wrote last period in English (Clears throat and straightens out page) “Be still my tongue, for I know not what to say, my life is lived in darkness and here I will remain.”3

Abby: Say what you want, (Smirks at Jennifer) I think you are emo.4

Jennifer: (Stands up) I’m not emo!5

Bryce: (Smiling) Read another one then.6

Jennifer: (Glares at Abby and clears throat again) Strip away vanity just as you consume me. Broken smile. Starless sky. Save it all and say goodbye. (pauses as she almost gets teary eyed acts like she is about to cry) I’m not emo, I swear!7

Walker enters.8

Walker: Hey, Jenna, hows my favorite emo friend? (Puts arm around shoulder and points to lunch tray) you gonna eat that?9

Jennifer: I swear, the next person to call me emo is going to pay severely.10

Walker: Sorry Jen you do act emo. Thats all we mean by it. (Smiles at jen)11

Jennifer: Whatever (Stops talking and looks down) be that way see if I care (Sticks tongue out at walker)12

Walker: don’t feel bad your my emo friend. (Smiles and winks at Jen)13

Jennifer: (Sarcastically) Thanks; that makes me feel so much better. (Hugs Walker)14

Bryce: Read us some more poetry, Jen15

Jennifer: Ok. The pain you feel is real. You are not asleep. But it’s a nightmare16

Abby: (Shouts at Jen while smiling) that is my exact point right there! Walker and Bryce (Looks at them) Administer the emo test on Jen, please! 17

Jennifer: What test are you talking about? (Walker and Bryce walk up to Jen) what do you think you are doing? (Starts backing up away from them)18

Walker: (Smiles) Administering the emo test on you!19

Jennifer: What if I don’t want to be given the emo test? (Folds arms over chest)20

Walker: oh well Bryce drag her over here! (Points in front of himself)21

Bryce: (Looks at Walker) Sure. (Grabs Jen’s arms)22

Jennifer: Don’t you dare (Bryce grabs Jen’s arms. She screams. Glares at Bryce) 23

Walker: (To Bryce) Grab her MP3 player. It will tell us all we need to know! 24

Jennifer: Don’t you touch my MP3 player (Screams at walker) give it back!25

Walker: ha! You’ll never catch me now (Runs into boys bathroom walker laughs) I TOLD YOU SO! (Hands MP3 player back to Jen)26

Abby: Well what’s on it?27

Walker: Oh nothing just emo bands like 30 Seconds To Mars, MCR, Panic! At The Disco and other emorific bands like that.28

Abby: like I said before, you are so emo.29

Jennifer: (Attacks Abby and shouts at her) IM NOT EMO!!!30

Walker, Abby, Bryce: (In unison) Yes you are.31

Jennifer: Fine, whatever I don’t care anymore (Starts to walk off) be that way see if I care. I’m gonna go cry in a corner32

Walker and Abby: See ya emo kid!33

Jennifer: (Stomps foot) I told you I’m not emo!34

Walker: Fine fine if your not emo then don’t help me sing this song (Starts singing) E is for emotional ruins everybody’s day.35

Jennifer: (Starts singing along with him) M is for miserable people.36

Jennifer and Walker: (In unison) O is for on the dark side cause we have some fresh cookies!37

Bryce: (Out of nowhere) Cookies woo! (All start laughing. Walks out of room with empty lunch tray)38

Abby and Walker look at Jennifer39

Jen: Fine I’ll admit it. (Heavy sigh) This is the only time I’m gonna say it so someone better record it, or write it down, or something.40

Walker: YAY! She’s actually going to admit it! Hold on a second before you say anything (Runs out of lunch room comes back with Bryce excited) Go ahead, Jenna!41

Jennifer: (Heavily sighs) Fine. I’m not denying it anymore. I’m emo.42

Abby: (Pumps fist up in the air) Finally! The truth we have been waiting for, for the whole year!43

Jennifer: (Rolls eyes) Thank God this is my senior year!
