‘Lou please don’t read my mind like that, it’s scary’. 1

‘Sorry’ she muttered in reply looking genuinely sad. 2

‘Don’t worry about it; everything is going to be ok’ Said Meg, more to reassure herself than Lou. ‘Yeah’ added Anna-lee ‘we’ll sort everything out’. Anna-lee reached down and kissed Lou on the forehead sadly. Anna-lee turned around to see Meg give her an evil look ‘She’s my girlfriend, you remember that’ Meg said with malice. Anna-lee turned to face Lou with tears in her eyes ‘How could I forget you show it off in my face all the time but I know things you don’t’ She retorted.3

Meg was just about to ask her what she meant when the machine that she was hooked up to started beeping and flat lined.  Anna-lee started screaming and Meg started sobbing loudly. ‘LOU ?? LOU?? OH MY GOD LOU!!??’ Anna-lee started screaming again then started crying in a corner muttering her name over and over again. The crash team came in and tried to resuscitate Lou. 4

After about 3 minutes the beeping noise became more subdued and quiet, looked up to see that the machine was now making a regular shaped line. Anna-lee sighed in relief and asked the nurse what happened. ‘Oh my god, nurse what happened?’5
