'Were you ever in love?' he asks one day, draped over the cushions on the sofa in my living room. I have my back to him, I'm pouring myself a glass of something that smells rather like fudge, and my hands shake and my fingers grasp just a little too hard on the fragile glass.2
All I can think is 'how dare you ask me that'3
So I tell him 4

'Just once.'6

Author notes
The beginning of a story I have in my head right now. Don't know how long it'll be, how it turns out, or if anyone (me) will like it in the end. Please take the time to stop by later on and read the continuation of this, I beg you ...

What did you think? Please comment!
