Her eyes can't seem to fasten on anything except the movement of cars outside. Her frail, delicate body trembled as if she were cold and when she breathed in, I could see the protruding bones of her ribs. She didn't make a sound or a whimper, just admired the world with this unexplainable sadness. I bet she could feel my own gaze trying to catch hers, but she pretended I wasn't there...wasn't sitting right beside her seemingly fragile body. I glanced away with a sigh and wondered how people could be so cruel to animals.

I met a dog today and her name is Shadow. Kind of odd, right? Anyways, it just really hurt me how sad and fearful she looked. The sweetest, most loving dog and some cold, son of a bitch with no heart had beaten her. I hope who ever it was goes to Hell...

In a way, and this is just me, I see this as a kind of sad, "longing-for" story.
I think it's interesting how you put in detalis about how she reacts to you and the things around her.
At first I didn't know what this meant, but I read it again and i got it. I watch animal crulety crap all the time and it never really hits me that people actually do this to animals in real life. I hate that so much...
This is really good though. Keep writing!
