The Colonial Kid--Chapter 5

Taylor picked up the phone and punched in numbers. He waited as the phone called, facing the calender in his kitchen. He crossed of the 19th of December with a red Expo marker. "Hello?" Brooke's vioce chimed from the other end. "Oh, hi. It's Taylor.""Hi.""Do you want to go snowboarding at the park?""Sure, I'll go tell my dad," she said."'Kay."Brooke came back a few seconds later, "Alright, meet me at the end of the road in five minutes.""'Kay, bye.""Bye."-------------------------------------------------------------------It was the first snow of the year, flurrying down in buckets. Brooke and Taylor were making their way back from snowboarding at a big hill in the park. They went through the path in the woods they had made the first day they met Will. The two used this path regularly now, for it was quicker to their homes. Their boots crunched violently at the new fallen snow. They approached the clearing where they last saw Will, three months ago. Brooke and Taylor walked, talking about school. "And I can't believe he would-" Taylor stopped to stare at something.Brooke turned in the direction that Taylor was looking. She gasped, "Will!" She began to run towards him, "Will! Will! I am so sorry. I probably made you leave for all that time."Will turned towards her, confused, "Leave? I never left. I fell asleep last night, sweating it was so hot, and woke up while it was snowing.""It was freezing yesterday, and you've been gone for months," Taylor said."No," Will said, "I fell asleep yesterday, which you said was September 13th, and I woke up this morning, on September 14th. It is September 14th, right?""No," Brooke said, "It's December 20th."Will's face turned white, "What happened?""I don't know."
