Platypus:1
The platypus is a fascinating animal, not only because it is a mammal with a duck bill, but it is one of two mammals that lay eggs. It lives in eastern Australia, and is a protected species, because humans used to hunt it for it's fur and it is vunerable to the effects of pollution. Here are a few interesting facts about this animal: 2
-The platypus has many other names, including waterbill, duckmole, and duckbill3
-Platypuses have venom in their ankle spurs that are used to ward off predators. This venom is harmful to humans.4
