What Happened?! (Septet)

Amber sat in the chair beside Jos' bed until he fell asleep. She watched him sleep until his mother came back in. 2

"Amber hun, you should head home."3

"I don't want to leave him, Mrs. Delia," Amber said softly.4

"I know you don't sweetie, but he's fine now. You should go home and get some rest too."5

Amber kissed Jos on the cheek and started toward the door. "Amber, where are you going?" she heard. Amber turned around to face Jos.6

"I'm goin' home baby. I'll be back tomorrow ok?"7

"Please don't forget me."8

"I won't baby, you're all I got."9

Amber turned around and started for the door again. She walked out of the room and turned toward the corner for the main hall. She paused, as if someone had stopped her in her tracks, and tried to hold back the tears that just seem to have sprung up on her. She managed to hold them until she got to her car. She opened the door, sat down, and let the never-ending river of tears flow. She managed to calm down and bit and crank the car. 10

When she got home, she told her mom how he was doing and went to her room. She sat on her bed and stared at his picture. She just couldn't believe he was hurt. She felt as if it were her fault seeing as how he was headed to her house. She felt awful. She wanted to just roll over in a hole and die. She went to her nightstand and took out her boxcutter. She rolled up her sleeve and marked the word 'sorry' on her bicep. She felt better for a minute, until the realization of what she had done sunk in.11

"What did I just do?!" she screamed.12

She ran to the bathroom and looked in the medicine box. She got out the Neosporin and some gauze. She hoped it wouldn't scar if she put tons of Neosporin on it. She took a washcloth and wiped the blood off. She caked Neosporin onto her self-inflicted wounds. She wrapped her arm with the gauze, and went back to her room. 13

"What a day..." said said as she lay on her bed. "I need to sleep... maybe when I wake up, this will all just be a dream."14
