Rising Above: Chapter One: Part Three: The Dream

**She was walking through the woods, a mere glimmer in the trees. Fog rose in a dense mist, clouding all from view. The silence broke as a lone arrow whistled through the trees. It pierced the Oak beside her. 1

Whipping around, a shadow pierced the gray fog, coming closer and closer. She began to panic but could not move. A voice echoed in her mind.2

“The end in nigh3

Now is your time to die4

        Do not fight5

For this is right6

    The end is nigh7

       Slowly8

    You9

Shall10

DIE!!”11

At the last word, the shadow charged at her. Still, she could not move. It was painful for her to be so helpless. She could not even scream. Everything melted away as a pair of bright, red eyes pierced her only line of sight. It was dark and silent. A chink of an un-sheathing sword sounded sharply. It pierced her torso with cold metal. She cried silently and attempted to rip it out. Falling backwards, she was pinned to the ground in a pool of blood**12

Carly jerked awake and fought for breath. Soon she calmed down and fell back asleep.13

Sorry to say this, but I've read the others as well as this, and they aren't crazy-good publishing material.
