Alasdair and Carly stood facing each other as the wind blew softly. The first rays of dawn washed over the field bathing it in dim light. As the early winter frost started to melt, the fight began.1
Carly threw her hands to her head as Alasdair threw up a shield and braced for an attack. Meanwhile, he planned out his own attack. Carly began to telepathically spin Alasdair around. He became dizzy and engulfed her in a blinding light while sending fire out of his left hand. She felt the fire and turned it around towards Alasdair who doused them with water.2
He manipulated the water to form a Tsunami headed for Carly. She created a bubble around herself and the Tsunami crashed by harmlessly. They backed away from each other surging with energy.3
Alasdair pulled out his broad sword from its scabbard that rested on his back. Carly mimicked the motion, un-sheathing her long sword from its side scabbard. Alasdair charged at her and she flipped up, slashing at his back. He rolled over and blocked. Alasdair got out from under her and swung at her head. Carly ducked and made a stab for his heart. He blocked and their swords clashed. The early morning light glinted off the metal as their swords pressed together. 4
The energy forced the two to push apart and back away from each other. Neither spoke as they circled, each evaluated what move the other might attack with next. The sun rose slowly into morning as they jumped back in and continued their sparring.5
Soon, they both grew weary. The energy that had kept them going was wearing off now. Carly was about to block Alasdair when she lost her footing, tripped and fell backwards.6
“Draw!” She shouted, hitting the ground as Alasdair burst out into hysterical laughter. Carly sat up and rubbed her back, sore from the fall. She glared at him. “Shut up! I just lost my balance!”7
“Sorry. I couldn’t help it. You’re normally so balanced that this was new!” He smirked and helped her stand back up.8
“I had a rough night.”9
“Was it…?” Alasdair started concerned.10
“Yes, now shut up about it.” She said angrily, cutting off his question. He raised his hands innocently and backed off. Carly picked up and sheathed her sword. She stormed back to the Campus.11
Alasdair followed after a bit more slowly. He did not want to cross Carly today. He had done that once before and still had the scars to prove it. Though he was very worried about her as of late, he swore not to say anything. He shook it off for now and ran up towards the Campus.12
