Sometimes 1
In those hot summer days2
I'd say3
"Lets go get wet!"4
And you and I5
In our little swimsuits6
That covered our pudgy7
Baby-fat bellies8
Would go out and set up 9
The sprinkler10
It was always cold at first11
A sharp and shocking splash12
We'd jump into the flying drops13
Then jump right out14
Hurdling through the water15
Laughing with sunshine smiles16
Plastered on our faces17
We'd get used to the water18
And stand in the falling rays19
Shaking our booties20
And throwing our hair21
All over the place22
We were rockstars23
And every now and then24
The mud and the grass25
Would splash on to our 26
Fleshy legs27
And we'd rinse off our feet28
And go right back29
To dancing30
Sometimes 31
I wish we were still32
As young33
And innocent34
Little girls35
With pudgy bellies36
And round smiling faces37
Shrieking and laughing38
Running through39
The sprinkler40

I never had a sprikler... I feel so left out... My neighbor had one, and we would ride our bikes back and forth on the street infront of it, and sometimes get a cold splash, but it just wasn't the same... Slip-n-slide was my friend. My friend Sarah and I broke that old thing out again the other day... Anyway, it's a really cute poem. It's a great way to express childhood innocences and fun... I also miss thoughs days. Good luck in the contest, Angie

I adore this! I can picture this so vividly in my mind and I just imagine the giggles and the laughter te ensued as you and your sister played. I live near a rather large park and I have to admit... even at 44, I am prone to being seen walking through the sprinklers as the sun sets or chasing one of my kids through them. That's one of lifes simpler pleasures that we create all for ourselves. Thank you so much for sharing such a sweet and memorable experience with me. You have left me smiling!

oh, I love this...we all have a child inside. I think it's a good idea to humor her every now and then. The world is a far too serious place. Good luck to you in the contest. Karen
