I've never been the best child to you.
I've never made you really happy.
Yet, you were always there
Encouraging me.1
You held my hand
And told me
Everything would be okay,
I had no need to worry.2
That was when I was younger
And I told you what I felt.
Now I have changed,
Yet my heart continues to melt.3
I used to say I love you,
Yet now I never do.
I'm not afraid, just growing up,
So stop telling me what to do.4
But, no.
I didn't mean that.
I love you still,
And I always will.5
That is true.
I just...can't tell you.
Even though I throw you away,
Please keep me and make your love stay.6
Mom, Dad.
I need you more than anyone in my life.
Need and love,
And love above.7
Thank you for gripping me tight,
For not letting me go,
For holding on to me,
Even though I try to flee.8
It is hard.
I do want to show you what I feel,
Yet there is a code of young ones
To hide what they cherish for real.9
So, please understand...
One day I'll hold your hand,
Tell you this and show you
That I still love you, Mom and Dad.

I agree with annemarie, very nice imagery and language.

Very touching
I liked the imagery you created with your word choice. I am not a poet, wish I could but poetry always comes out sounding like something written in grade two when I write it. I have the utmost respect and admiration for anyone who can write poetry with a maturity that I cannot. -
sweet, i love it
