Photographs

Those photographs and memories
Lying on a shelf.
Those pieces of the past
Cling to my very self.
I try to fight the tears,
Yet the truth I cannot stand:
'We are all growing old
Fading in the sand.'1

I sit on that old chair
And cry inside my head.
I never thought that day would come,
That we would be forgotten.2

My sorrow though
Is not for me,
But for helpless humanity.
Today we live,
We share and give,
Believing somehow we will stay.
We hope and pray
As time snatches us away.3

However, there is hope.
It offers light,
It grants us faith.
So we believe that someday
Our lives won't ever fade.4

Such wonderful dreams,
Such a happy tale.
We close our eyes...
And see once more those photographs
Of the younger you and me.
