Four Dark Children

The Light Child1

"I have light's goodness. I have light's speed. I also have the power of lightning...to destroy."
2

A young boy, age fifteen (and rather tall and lanky for that age), ran around the track, leaving his partners in training in the dust. This boy had phenomenal speed that much was apparent. As he approached the finish line, he looked at his coach, a large rather fit man with a blue sports jacket and hat.3

"Son, come over here!" he shouted at the top of his lungs. The tall running boy crossed the finish line and walked over to his coach. The bright sunlight touched his tan, well-toned body. Beads of sweat came down his face, but he did not breathe heavy. And this amazed the coach. He handed the athlete a sports drink bottle.4

"You just outran the fastest runners in this school...all you seem to be sweating from is the heat."5

The young boy smiled and took the bottle, pouring the refreshing liquid down his dry throat. With a loud, satisfied "Ah!" he looked back to his coach.6

"Running never tires me out...speed is what I do. Kinda like...light!" the boy chuckled. His coach stared at him and shook his head. The boy was fast, but clearly weird.7

"Whatever...rest up, son. With speed like that, you'll go far in sports."8

The day went on like normal, with the exception of the rain clouds that formed near the end of the day. They appeared to be storm clouds everyone had seen at least once in their lives, but something felt different. Noticing these changes, after school, the young boy went off to a secluded part of his town...for a meeting.9

The thunder rumbled loudly where the young boy stood. The wind picked up, ruffling his curly black hair and the green grass under his feet.10

"I'm here...what do you want?"11

There was no response, save the flash from high in the sky. The boy moaned a tired moan...he grew sick of waiting for such meetings to occur. Every time he was early, and his acquaintance, late.12

"Get down here...Jesus...," he grumbled. To his surprise, a bolt of lightning shot down form the dark clouds above and struck a few feet from the young boy. He closed his eyes, practically ducking as well due to the shock. The ground where the lightning struck was charred black from the intense heat, and it also was occupied by a figure. The black haired athlete opened his eyes and saw a man made of lightning standing before him. The man glowed brilliantly, almost as though he were a god. His eyes were glaring slits, an appearance of evil almost. He had no mouth and no ears, but otherwise, this lightning man was the perfect image of a human being.13

"Good...you're hear. What is it?" the boy asked, annoyed. He heard a low sound that was a response.14

"No, not yet," the boy replied. Again, the sound came out, only louder.15

"I'm not a destroyer. Light is good..."16

BOOM!17

"...but Lightning is not."18

The lightning man nodded, giving off the almost alien sound he had.19

"I will not destroy this world as you want...you and Light gave me speed and electricity. But I'll never use them to harm."20

BOOM! CRASH!21

"Make me, Lightning. Make me."22

The lightning man's eyes narrowed further than they already were. The young boy lighted his leg, prepared to dodge an attack, but before he could begin his run, the man was already behind him.23

"God, you're fast...much faster than me...," the athlete said in shock. The man put his arms around the boy and squeezed.24

"AAAHHH!"25

Sparks flew from the boy's body as the man's electric bear hug shocked his body. When the man let go, the boy was smoking and nearly unconscious.26

"I'll never...do what you command..."27

Thunder crashed high above for the third time as the lightning man disappeared in a flash. Rain began to fall on the young boy and the rest of the town.28

The Dark Child29

"I kill, steal, and destroy because I enjoy it."30

The Dark Child is the oldest of the children, and the most evil. He is, as of this writing, twenty-three. At age two, the Dark element took him to kill his own parents. He stole many times after that. By age fourteen, he had committed five rapes to girls his age. The dark power in his veins allowed him to overpower everyone he victimized. And none of the other elements attempted to stop him, for Dark, too, is apart of nature and the elements. This is the story of the day he was arrested, but learned he could not be so easily killed.
31

A man wearing a black trench coat casually walked out of a bank with its sirens going off. He carried a gun in his left hand and bag of money in the other. The bright sunlight from above gave off a glare on his bald head. As the door he walked through closed, people passing by could see, just barely, a wasteland of death and blood inside the bank. Police cars raced down the street and braked in front of the bank, hopping out the moment they stopped. The lights on their cars flashed blue and red brilliantly, but the man only delighted in seeing them.32

"Drop everything and come quietly!" one officer yelled as he and his partners aimed all kinds of guns directly at the man in black. And this man, even in the face of such odds, laughed. He sat down his bag of stolen money and snapped his fingers. The sunny afternoon of the city quickly disappeared. High in the sky, the sun remained, but it no longer gave off such brilliant light and the sky became pitch black.33

"You will all...,"34

From the sky, a black hand came down and grabbed the officers and their cars, effectively squeezing them all together.35

"Die," the criminal finished. With the threat of officers gone and all innocent bystanders fleeing, the man calmly picked up his stolen goods and walked on.36

As the man walked home, he came across many people. He found a mother walking home with her young child, who appeared to be less than seven years old. As they passed, he pulled out a knife, and stabbed the boy in the head, then had the darkness swallow the mother. He laughed. He broke into a random person's home, and to his delight found a young girl to rape. He smiled. He shot stray dogs and cats dead as he continued back to his home. And the man had no regrets, no pity, and no remorse, only delight.37

It wasn't long before the man finally arrived home. In his little apartment room, untidy and barely fit to live in, he fell on his bed and went to sleep in his black trench coat.
38

"ZZZZ...Z-ugh!" the man shouted, surprised as he opened his eyes. Rather than seeing the crummy walls of his apartment room, he found nasty blue brick walls. A single light lit the area. The bald criminal was sitting in an uncomfortable brown chair in from of boring brown table. Three men, obviously police officer or investigators, stood in the room with him.39

"You're awake," one of them growled, placing his hairy hands on the table, "We've been waiting for this."40

The man in black could not see his interrogator, but then he really didn't care.41

"So you fools finally caught me. I wonder how you expect to keep me."42

"We've got all the evidence we'll ever need to sentence you to death."43

"You know I've got the power to get out of here when I feel like it. So tell me, why would I stick around?"44

"..."45

"Didn't think so."46

A voice from behind the criminal spoke next.47

"Why did you do everything? The killings, the theft, the rape...," he asked.48

"Because I enjoy it...there's nothing better than smelling fresh blood, taking items of value that aren't yours, or getting pleasure from cute girls. I even enjoy banishing people from time to time," he said in a sickeningly insane tone of voice. Another pair of hands slammed down on the table.49

"You bastard! That girl you raped today...that was my daughter!" a man yelled angrily. The man in black again chuckled his usual chuckle.50

"Really? Then I gotta tell you...you need to make her exercise more or feed her better or something. She gave out way too quickly...no stamina at all."51

"Grr!"52

One of the interrogators held back the angry officer as he drew his gun, wanting to shoot the insane, bald criminal they had. The criminal smiled at the armed officer.53

"Oh, come on, let him have his fun, guys. He is pissed about the rape and probably all my murders. But then, he sees these things quite often, I bet."54

"Listen you..." the officer aimed his gun, pushing away the interrogator trying to hold him back.55

"Aw, what's the matter? Jealous that I got more in a day than you did in your entire life?"56

The gun went off at that moment, sending a bullet right into the criminal's chest. He fell out of his chair, and the other two men in the room looked in shock at their fellow officer. What they didn't see at that time, though, was that no blood came out of the criminal's body, and his heart was beating just fine. The Darkness again saved his life.57

The Cold Child58

"Once I have frozen all matter, I will have frozen all time."59

Flash.60

A young boy walking in the snow, wrapped in a white blanket, holds his head down as if to be sad. He moves his mouth as if he is talking to someone. The blizzard he is in picks up, and then, with a final five word sentence, he collapses in the snow.61

Flash.
62

The boy's eyes opened weakly. He looked at his surroundings...a sterile white room with a TV up high. He felt an IV in his arm and noticed he was wrapped up entirely in covers...only his face could be seen. But he ignored that for a moment...his family surrounded his bed, looking at him. His little seven-year-old sister wiped tears from her brown eyes, and his father smiled, happy to see him. The boy's mother, however, hugged him tightly.63

"God, son, you had me worried sick!" she said as she kissed his cheek with motherly love. He looked at them with his cold, weak eyes, not saying a word. He felt completely dead.64

"Where is she...?" he thought, zoning out of reality. His family tried to speak to him, but he zoned out far too much. His doctor came in.65

"People, I'm sorry, but you have to expect this...he obviously experienced a lot of trauma, whatever he found out there in the cold, and also caught hypothermia. I'm surprised he's alive...so I think it best we leave him be," the doctor said. He opened the door for the boy's family as they left, and they all waved by to them, very sad to leave a loved one behind. The boy wanted to tell them to stay...he felt so cold and alone. And it was then he looked at the room's thermometer. The temperature dropped from normal room temperature to twenty degrees Fahrenheit. His teeth chattered furiously as the door to his room locked all by itself, and ice formed all over the walls and floor.66

"No...not again...," the young, pale boy whispered in fear. A mass of air floated in front of his bed, and began to take the shape of a woman. He watched as the air grew blue arms and legs, as well has a head and torso. She appeared before him in a white dress, and with an evil smile.67

"W-who are you? I remember you...from the snowy place," the boy asked. The woman held her smile.68

"Son...congratulations. You caught hypothermia...you've completed puberty," she said to him. He shook his head wildly, trying to deny she followed him here.69

"No...you gave me hypothermia. Wait...puberty?"70

"Yes, my son...all of my children start puberty at your age by catching hypothermia, a severe case, and surviving it. Now it lives in your body...when you are ready to take the world, take time itself...your temperature will drop," she said insanely.71

"W-what...?"72

"And then you will be a Frozen King. I always knew you would...from the day I touched you and made you my own while still in your 'mother's' womb. She stupidly traveled with her husband to a cold mountain cabin...that's where I found your developing body."73

The boy couldn't believe any of what he was hearing...it was all coming in so fast. It was as if she expected him to know it.74

"I don't know what you think..."75

"Oh, I know what you will do. I know what you are. But I'm not like the others, Son...I'll leave you to ponder what you've heard. Maybe you'll realize...,"76

She said evilly. And with that, she became a mass of air, slowly dissipating. The ice around him began to shrink, not melt, into nothingness. And all the boy could do was breathe heavily.77

"Others? Are there more...?78

The Science Child79

"Poisons, Gravity, Sounds...these are the things I dictate that the others could never handle."
80

"They're all aware now...Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Light, Dark, and Cold. I can gather them all finally," a scientist in the typical white lab coat said. He held a beaker, which had a red liquid in it.81

"Can we really take over or destroy the world, though? Or can we save it? Fire, Water, Earth, and Air were always the Creative Elements according to my research...and Sound, Gravity, Poison, Dark, Light, and Cold were the Destructive Elements," the man said. He put down the beaker and picked up a red book from behind him. He opened it to a book-marked page and began reading.82

"Yes, precisely. The Destructive Elements were more numerous but wholly weaker in power. Now...I'm the Child of Science, so I harness Sound, Gravity, and Poison. Does this mean something will happen and I'll attack the world...?" he asked himself. For a few minutes, he stood there reading paragraph after paragraph, trying to understand his fate...him, a man of science.83

"God, this is foolish..."84

He threw the book down on the dusty floor and kicked it away...such superstitious nonsense! He went back to working with his beaker of liquid.85

Perhaps the deadliest, smartest child of all doesn't believe in his fate...86

The contrast between this story and the prequel are astounding; this one has a much darker, mysterious, and somewhat more disturbing tone. I'm sure that's your motive here though. I mean, after all, these elemental children are supposed to be dark in different aspects. The tone is quite chilling, and malevolent. You pulled this off brilliantly.
    ^_^
I enjoyed reading this sequel, and I'm so glad you decided to continue it. This wasn't what I expected at all; you are always full of surprises.
