Character Cafe

They sat in dead silence around the table with tension that would snap at a signle word. Eyeing each other in quiet challanges to prove the better of them. Who would be victorious? Who would fail? Time passed slowly, people coming and going, only ever passing a look or a quick word. It was a battle of who would break first, of who would go down...1

"You lot ready to order?" A plump waitress said. The group looked up collectively. "Yeah.. I'll have a Moca" "Cafe Latte here" "Frappacino here" "Just a hot chocolate for me" "Do you have any iced tea?" "How 'bout soda?" "Vienna? Do you serve that?" The waitress, 'Betty' her name tag said, attepmted to get it all down "'Kay. I'll have your order ready as soon as possible."2

They looked at each other. A girl spoke up "So why are we here? I mean, apart from getting a coffee or whatever. Why are we here?" The speaker could pass as a normal human. A young 20 something girl, braided red hair and pale skin. The accent of a New Yorker. Normal. Except for the eyes. White pupils, shocking blue irises on black. Distinctly different and quite un-nerving.3

"We're here because 'They' have gone to bed. They've finally stopped for the day. No more Roleplaying. Good I say" The speaker, a wolf surprisingly, muttered "If I get hit by one more pillow." "You've got it easy, Eve." A smoky voice said from the shadows. "Sugah, do you have any idea how a vegetarian vampire ruins the whole species name? I swear, her highness was on Lemonade that day." A pointy-toothed grin could be seen fro the shadowed face. "And you think being a ghost makes the job easy, lass?" Someone else asked. The group chorused in the shut-ups. 4

"It's always the same t'ing. Remy t'is. Di t'at. W'ats so dman good about t'ose two, huh? W'at?" A bright blued haired boy said. He sparked his hand up with electricity and went to hit the table. A hand caught his wrist "And you think it's easy for us, Lash?" A whispered voice said into his ear. Lash shivered "You think we're enjoying this? Been beaten up and throw around? Sharing glances and looking away? I'm turning into a little slut y'know? I mean.. Remy of all people!" "Oh... Dat's real nice, chere." This one came from the guy sitting next to the one called Di. "Y'think I like drooling over you?" His accent made his voice sound sultry and smooth. Desirable to anyone else. "Hey.. I'm this close to smacking you back to the cold wasteland you came from, Remy!" Di replied. "I swear.. you touch me one more time and I'll throw up." "Don' give me a reason to, chere. If it's de only way t'shut you up." "Hey! I got a right to bitch! I'm going through a major crisis here!" "And Y'think I'm not, chere?" 5

Lash looked at Eve, who looked at the young girl, Alicia was her name. "Here we go again. Do those two ever shut up?" She said. "Apparantly not. They're giving me a headache though."  The vampire said.6

Eve glanced around the cafe and groaned. You knew times were getting tough when even Mera and Inferno came in for a coffee. She waved to the two at an opposite table and turned back to her own group. 7

"Well if you're so 'in love' with me, Remy, then what's with those sneaky glances you and Alicia share after work? Huh? I've seen them!". Alicia yelped and looked at Di "There's nothing between us! I mean.. I like him but he's too busy flirting with Rogue!" She sniffed "It's too hard to get his attention with her around. so I gave up... " Di huffed and folded her arms "I thought you and Rogue were over? You told me you were over! That's why we agreed to this stupid plot line!" "Di! Chere, I was goin' to tell you. Honest. I don' like lyin' t'you. " Remy pleaded. "Oh shut the fuck up! You lie to me all the time. The time you borrowed my book.. you said you'd lost it.. and then I found it in your room.. and then the time......"8

A new person walzed in with Jc Chasez and Joey Fatone. Her name was Ada. Eve watched her kiss Jc on the cheek and then come over. "Hey Eve! Hows things?" Eve blinked "Normal" She muttered, waving a paw at Di and Remy. "I thought you were working today?" Ada shook her head "No I took some time off to escort Jc and Joey..." She paused and looked at them, sitting in a different booth "I still say they look so cute, Eve. I mean, who knew one kiss could evolve too so much?" Eve shrugged. "So what's going on today? Anything changed?" Ada asked.9

".... and then you had the nerve to hit on her! After you said you loved me and..."10

"... That's eww that is! We hardly ever hug and there's nothing between us.."11

"... So why do t'ey get the spotlight? Maybe I should turn gay.. see what 'appens.."12

"...I'm not really a vegetarian,sugah. I've lost so much weight from playing that part..."13

"... I'm getting a headache from Remy stomping on me, lass!..."14

".... Chere, I didn' start de plot. You had de nerve to kiss me!..."15

Eve looked up "Anything changed? Nope. Nothing at all, Ada." 16

The coffee arrived. Di reached for her cup. "You saved my life. I was going for major depressive plot in there and you had to play the hero! My god.. who the fuck plays you Remy? " "One of de crazy idiots up dere! I don' choose dis stuff, chere."17

"Would Divana 159 and Remy 286 please report to the transit room. I repeat would 159 and 286 please report to the transit room. There's a shuttle waiting for you"18

"Aw.. shit. My coffee.." "Let's go chere. Time to act all..." "Icky?" "Yeah, dat's de word. Icky." "As long as there's no kissing.19

Eve looked into her coffee "Nothing at all."20
