Naomi & Kimba1
The story of a forbidden friendship.2
Prologue….3
Cats and dogs have always been enemies. No doubt about that. The world of felines vs the world of canines, but what happens if one day they befriended each other? Well certainly they couldn’t call each other the enemy anymore if they were friends. Why? You ask. Would I say such a thing? Meet Naomi the canine and Kimba the feline. Their friendship is strong, but it was what you called a “forbidden friendship” if both their kinds knew about this…would you say it is against nature? For a cat making peace with a dog? Well that’s what some of their kind believe.4
Chapter 15
She ran down the path, paws hitting the ground as she ran. Her name is Naomi, a small ginger orphaned wolf. Her parents died at a young age and her home was destroyed by a forest fire and every pack member died from the fire either being burned to death or suffering from the aftermath. Her parents died during the forest fire. Naomi watched the horrible site and now bares the scars on her body to prove that it happened. Now, she has no place to call her own. She roams alone at such a young age and never stays in one place for too long. When the forest was destroyed she was forced to leave it behind and forget the past and now here she is running on to no where in particular just running to no destination. Naomi ran on, she glanced at the surrounding area. She was growing thirsty and longed for water. As she examined the area it looked like an open meadow where many flowers bloomed. The sun shined down on her as she felt the warmth of it on her fur. Finally, she spotted a nearby watering hole so she stopped, but before approaching it she paused for a moment and let herself feel the sun’s warmth as it still shined on her fur. She twitched her nose finding the scent of the blooming flowers pleasant. Finally, she trotted to the distant watering hole. Once there, she bent her head down and lapped up the water quenching her thirst. Little did she know though that someone was watching her. Nearby in the shadows was a stalking cougar that claimed the land that Naomi walked upon as her own. Her name was Raven she welcomed no wolf to walk upon her land and she wasn’t going to let this one roam on her turf. Quietly, she crept up on Naomi her paws not even making a sound. Not even noticing Raven, Naomi continued to lap up the water. Suddenly, she perked up her ears as a loud roar sounded from behind her. Quickly, Naomi turned around and stared at the grown cougar with its unsheathed claws.6
“What do you want?” Naomi defiantly said not even scared by the cougar’s menacing glare and large jaws that could tear up anything that it got a hold of.7
“Get out of my territory!” Raven growled at Naomi. “Who says it’s yours?” Naomi demanded as Raven let out a laugh. “Just like the local wolves said before I drove them out!” Naomi glared back daring to look straight into Raven’s eyes. “Oh really? No wait the truth is this land isn’t yours, you’re just being a bully and I bet you can’t even fight!”8
Raven gave a menacing laugh “Would you like me to prove you wrong?” Naomi rolled her eyes “Let’s see what you got.” Raven jumped forward with her claws drawn out as Naomi gasped and dodged out of the way with Raven’s claws grazing her tail. It was too late to turn back now as Raven found herself plunging into the water head first as she went under.9
Naomi watched with a sly smile as an over reaction came from Raven as she came to the surface and started coughing and spitting out the water that was in her mouth. The wetness of her fur made Raven feel uncomfortable as it clung to her body. Thankfully, the water was shallow since she didn’t know how to swim. Raven stood up on all fours as Naomi burst out laughing “What’s the matter? Don’t you like water?” Raven glared at the young wolf cub. “Didn’t your parents teach you any manners? You’ll pay for that!”10
Angrily, Raven splashed out of the water and onto the dry land as Naomi began to run away. She only knew a little bit about fighting, but her little bit of knowledge about fighting would get her nowhere with this strong vicious cougar so instead she just ran hoping to get away from Raven who ran after her trying to get a hold of her.11
Naomi was able to escape Raven’s teeth and sharp claws, but only for a little bit. Raven’s paws and sturdy legs proved too powerful for Naomi to outrun as Raven finally caught up with her and slashed Naomi from behind knocking her to the ground.12
Naomi lie there as pain coursed through her body with blood escaping where she was slashed on the rear end, there was no way she could out run this mighty beast.13
Perhaps what she said was right. Naomi closed her eyes as Raven’s jaws were set upon her neck sinking into her. Suddenly, Naomi was shook about viciously as Raven growled aloud “Do you dare defy me now?” Blood hit the ground as Naomi was under attack from the vicious cougar. Even when Naomi made no sound anymore but yet still alive Raven didn’t stop there.14
It was more than a matter of just beating up a wolf cub like Naomi. She had fallen Raven’s prey. Suddenly, she began to pull on Naomi’s neck as15
more pain coursed through Naomi’s body, it was the end of her for sure, but then a loud hiss sounded as Raven finally let go and stared off into the distance as no one approached…yet. Her tail twitched in aggravation as a booming deep voice called “Stop this non sense!”16
“Huh?” Naomi unable to move a muscle just paced her ears forward as she heard someone approached. She felt the coldness of her blood drip to the ground as she lie there motionless.17
Raven narrowed her eyes when a group of wolves approached. “What do you want?” She growled. “Raven, what’s the meaning of this?” The leader of the group called as his blue eyes shown with anger in them.18
Raven rolled her eyes “Don’t you get it? She’s of the dog kind and I am of the cat kind! What do you expect? Just to let her intrude upon the land? My land!?”19
The leader let out a sigh as he boldly stood there “Why do you speak of that? Yes that’s true, but that doesn’t mean we should be going at your throat because you are a feline!”20
Raven looked away and glared at the motionless bloodied Naomi who lay in front of her.21
Anger flared through her as she swat Naomi away from her as though she were nothing more than dirt.22
Naomi hit the ground painfully as she didn’t even struggle to get up. Too much pain paralyzed her.23
“You still don’t get it! It’s against nature to befriend you! Cats and dogs have never been friends with each other and never will! You dare go against that!?”24
“We’re not going against anything! We’re just tired of you causing chaos around here!” The leader growled. “I expect you to let that pup go!”25
“It’s my land, I do what I want on it! She’s my prey I caught snooping around here.” Raven protested.26
The leader closed his eyes and took a deep breath “This is no one’s land it was created for anyone to live on! Why must you be like that?”27
Raven went quiet as she glared at the wolves as they stared back. Finally, she said “You have not seen the last of me!” She stepped back and trotted towards Naomi. “I expect you to leave her alone. Raven, don’t make us force you away!”28
Raven stopped and glanced at the motionless Naomi. “One day you’ll regret setting foot upon this land.” At that she trotted off with her tail swaying side to side.29
When out of sight, Naomi, fully conscious, watched as all the wolves approached her.30
“Are you alright?” The leader asked, but Naomi didn’t answer back as her vision gave way as darkness set in plunging her into unconsciousness.
Author notes
I hated the other story so badly I decided to quit on it. Please criticize on it.
Never mind the prologue ignore it. =P Just think of it as something that's just there.

This was a good start to a much bigger story. I like the concept of canine and feline trying to make peace with each other, and how some don't want this to happen. It has a sense of the real world, such as prejudice and racism.
The descriptions were well done and the dialogue too. The opening was well done and drew me into it.
I would like to see the entire work when it is completed.
