Burn--Travel

Lyde cleansed herself with a soap that Rica had made especially for her. Lyde sat in the velvety warm water, which was being kept warm by Gerinode and Rica, playing with the bubbles and daydreaming. She cleared her mind of all other thoughts and started to sing. ?Of what thinkist thou?? Rica asked in her enchanting voice. ?Not, sister, not.? Rica smiled while still concentrating on keeping the water warm. ?Thou art the perfect little witch.? Lyde blushed. ?I thank thee sister, but if thou keep up thy flattery I shall lose the state of higher being I have attained thus far.? Gerinode smiled making her face look more ancient and knowing then the sphinx. ?The little witch has a point sister.? Gerinode got up from her seat on the ground and retrieved a towel. ?Here Child. Rica, I think tonight we will go to the cost.? Gerinode handed Lyde the towel.1

The three witches sat in a circle with the blue vase where their fourth sister would have normally sat. It still sang the beautiful wordless tune.  They chanted along with the ashes. Gerinode then called fourth the powers of the moon. ?Dearest and most ancient mother, thou knowest the danger our little sister is in. Thy, who has the most pure power, take our sister. Place her in a time where she will not be persecuted for possessing such high rate of power.? The sisters chanted along with the fourth sister?s ashes. 2

A pale silver flash with a wave of energy. Gerinode and Rica were knocked unconscious. Lyde felt a mad spinning. She felt nauseous. She tried to open her eyes, but when she did she saw only bright colors swirling fast around her, which didn?t help her feeling of nausea. 3

Three hours later Gerinode and Rica opened their eyes. Lyde was gone. ?Where do you think she had gone Gerinode?? Rica asked cuddling the spot where her little sister had been. ?I know not, Rica, I know not.? Rica sat and rocked over the spot that once held Lyde. ?She was so unbelievably powerful.? ?Ay sister, which is why we needed to transfer her. Thou knowest what the inquisition would have done to her. If thou thinkist they would have been lenient with her, thou entertains foolish thoughts. Nay sister, they would have done much worse because of her youth. May haps even drawing and quartering afore burning.?  Gerinode saw the tears in Rica?s eyes. ?Your daughter will fare well Rica.? Rica looked into Gerinode?s eyes. ?Ay mother.? 4

Author notes

* Lyde = superstisious poeople of mideval times would name daughters Lyde thinking the name would make them indestuctible (world history class!!!)

And it gets better. I like the intensity of this, and how real the emotions are. I also think I figured out the family order, which cleared up some confusion. Great writing, I'm hooked, and will keep reading.
