Long ago, in a land called Veeran Island lived a dragon. He was huge, and green, and very, very mean! Whenever some one swam or took a boat to Veeran Island he would roar and roar really loud! It scared off everyone! And so, Veeran Island was empty. Until...1
A girl named Rose came to Veeran, because she was moving with her family. She thought it would be fun to explore, so she put her long brown hair in a ponytail, then her blue eyes twinkled, and she was off!2
Rose heard a huge "ROOOOOAAR!!!!" but she was not scared, or even nervous. Not one little bit! That noise made her want to see what made it! And she did! But all Rose did when she saw the huge, green dragon that made that huge, scary "ROOOAAAR!!!!" was ask, "What's wrong, Mr. Dragon?" And looked up at the big monster.3
"Well, actually Mr.Dragon is my father! I'm Herb!" Rose tilted her head a little. "Well, Herb, I'm Rose and I'm wondering what's wrong? Why do you keep making those scary noises?" she asked on. "Well, Rose, I have no friends! NO one on this island likes me!"4
"Herb. I'll be your friend! In fact, we could be BEST friends!" Rose said, smiling sweetly. "I'd like that, Rose!" 5
And so it was! The huge, mean, scary monster (who was actually very nice, and was a dragon name Herb) and the brave girl, Rose were BEST friends, forever and always!6
