Jayden

Jayden is my best friend. We do everything together, there was this one day a few years back. 1

It was July 18, 20052

It was the day I met Jayden.3

I was at my best friend's birthday party (I mean, come on, I was 13, not the party type) and she got in a fight with one of her "closest friends" named Jayden. 4

I found Jayden sitting in a corner alone, (yes, Jayden is a guy and my best friend) he was curled up in a ball type shape, he had his head down in his arms and his back was shaking.5

He was crying. 6

At first I thought he was just your average, concieted beautiful boy. I mean, he is cute, he's tall, and has blonde hair that always falls into these emerald eyes. Let's ignore beautiful, this guy was seriously HOT!7

I was cautious at first. It's not everyday you come across a boy crying in a corner at a party. So, I very cautiously approached him and put my left hand on his shaking, sweaty shoulder. He looked up at me for a moment with those big, emerald, teary eyes.8

"Go away!" He moaned and then put his head back in his arms. 9

That didn't satisfy me, he didn't seem interested in me. But I didn't get mad, great relationships take time, right? So I sat beside him, pulling my knees up to my just developing chest. I looked at him curiously.10

"Why are you crying?" I finally asked. 11

He didn't respond, I didn't know what to do. 12

Let me explain, there was like this empathy rolling between us, the air seemed charged with emotion. And I seemed to know there was no comforting this poor creature. So I sat with him in complete silence. Watching the party roll out in front of me. Occasionally I would pat his shoulder, just letting him know I was there, and he could talk whenever he was ready.13

At the end of the party we were still sitting in the corner, I was kind of drifting off to sleep, my sleepless night kicking in. Cynthia's mom was calling everyone as their parents came.14

Finally my name was called. 15

I patted his shoulder a last time, and got up, but I forgot my purse. 16

A few days later (after frantically searching the house)I got a phone call. 17

"Hello?" I answered. 18

Silence met me. Finally a wavering voice answered.19

"Hello, is this the home of Skyler Smith?" Even though the voice wasn't, tear-filled and in person, I knew who it was.20

"Yes, it is." I replied, carefully hiding my excitment, and momentarily forgetting about the traumatic loss of my purse.21

"Um, I have your bag." The voice said, growing more confident. My breath caught in my throat. A double wammy! My purse AND a cute boy. 22

"Really?" I had asked lamely, inwardly kicking myself for not coming up with a sexier reply. 23

"Yeah can I have your address?"24

So I gave my address (which I'm not posting online, no offence), and a few minutes later my purse was in my hand. His mother had come with him to make sure my mom wasn't some mad-masked murderer, they shook hands and became fast friends.25

As did Jayden and I.26

And we've been friends ever since. 27

Of course, there was a hard time, like the time I found out Jayden was actually a homosexual (I hope you're not homophobic or I am so losing this contest), and all the fights we've been in. But we always get through it.28

And we catch each other when we fall.29

As for Cynthia (The party thrower) we hate her, but sometimes, when we're just laying around in my basement, we secretly thank her for throwing us together. 30

Aw! How cute! It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside
Don't worry, I'm NOT homophobic... some of my best friends are gays. What's also fun is going to clubs on gay nights, since you don't get harassed by the creepers... but that's another story

it's funny how life works out that way... you lose one best friend but you gain another. Even if you didn't talk at all that night, it was still a good night

    thanks for your entry!!

Cynthia was being a bitch, and wouldn't let him play any party games, and when he tried to play she'd be really mean, or stop the game, or tell him to go away.

Really nice i really like your descriptions. I wanted to know why Jayden was crying though??? But the third line why have you put "closest friend" didn't understood that. It was cool and best of luck with the contest
