Winds of Freedom Ch 1

Wings of a strong eagle spread before the land, in the birth of a new fire stars morn, shadowing the canyons with such powerful grace. Soaring high to the morning sky, this mighty hunter closes his eyes basking in the beauty of the sweet golden glimmering warmth. Gentle whispers of pastel's winds come rushing forth guiding him to the path he is now  to follow. Flowing along painted deserts into unfamiliar lands, he thrusts forth ward never glancing back to what once was, he can not afford to think what may have been when it is his heart that calls him to other directions. With such heaviness on his mind, he soars over deep lush evergreen forests and vast flowing streams that bow unto him, wishing him only the best and praying for a swift return. To them, he symbolized all that they wanted to be, even though they were grateful for the love and life that the Gods and Goddesses had given them, to be that free, to roam where ever you please, that is something they can only accomplish in their dreams.1

Soon enough the scent of salt begins to over power the air as he presses on. Holding a burning desire to get his talons dug into worlds that are beyond his own comprehension, he dares to go where others have only weaved tales of or only saw in their dreams. This young one wants to know what is beyond the borders of his world, so eager to learn new ways of curious strangers, or to feast his eyes on what can possibly be the bountiful nothingness. 2

In time he comes upon white misted sprays of water that stings his eyes, and he wonders what this strange new air could be. Frantically he blinks his eyes many times just to see clear, all at once his breath is immediately stolen from his lungs. He can not believe what is layed out before him, all of this deep sensual water that seems to call him closer, just to feel the cool touches upon his warmed amber feathers, to let the heat of the day, if even for a moment, escape his body, this is more than even he could have dreamed possible. Suddenly an electrifying excitement surges through his body, and with a deep breath he soars closer to the tantalizing sapphire depth below him, becoming so enthralled at the sheer beauty of it all, he wonders if he is to chance the touch of such splendor, and if he does will it be his death or a rebirth unlike any other, these things he had to know. 3

With these thoughts in mind, he swoops with a fierce courage encouraging him on, slowly descending lower and lower, till finally a single black fire talon glides through the majestic forbidden, shattering a dream that now has become reality. If only those that were left behind could see him now, see him as he goes where they dared to dream, to feel the gentleness of this illuminating lady sea, welcoming him into her arms so graciously, to feel the wonder of this far off land that he has heard only through stories. Like a child with a new toy, he dances upon the winds breath, tilting from side to side, dipping each wing into the fresh inviting waters, what a treasure he has found.4

Warm salted mists of white capped waves begin to turn cooler as he again takes to a higher elevation, not wanting to leave this delight that he has found, but knowing it must end for now. A faint haze can be seen in the shadow of the sun, like a grand tree was standing in front of its light in the emerald forest he calls home. As he draws closer, he begging to see that it is no tree, but a vast cold mountain of stone that has sprung up in the middle of these glorious waters. 5

He lets out a screech that echos far and wide, one of joyous exploration, for this path is giving him many more gifts than he could have hoped for. How is that a this magnitude of stone can be erected so perfectly in the middle of no where? His mind churns and burns for so many answers to his many questions, he hopes that this day will be the key to unlock many things. The winds begin to pick up and the once tranquil Lady Sea, as he calls her, begins to anger and show her raged upon the jagged rocks below that have crumbled at the base of the mountain for many years. The crystal blue sky that once was, is now quickly being blotted out by ill tempered clouds, and incorrigible lightning. Thunder booming so loudly, that is shakes the loose gravel upon the base, and send spiraling ripples through the waters soul, deafening the ears of the young but determined eagle. In order to escape the clutches of the in coming storm, he quickly seeks refuge in a deep rooted crevasse that was carved into the side of this ancient snow topped mountain. 6

The incorrigible lightning begins its deadly dance, striking to and fro, remaking whatever it pleases. Striking so boldly and so brightly that is seems that it is reflecting off the waters face as if it was gazing into a mirror in self admiration, wanting all to stand and take notice. Whipping winds make it near impossible to stay snugly hid, throwing whatever it may at its mercy like a paper bag that has no form. Whistling the whistle of eeriness as it streams past the opening of his small safe haven, making the brave eagle cringe and dig his talons into the soft dirt that remains. Then commanding rains begin to beat the already weathered surface of the mountain, creating more erosion and shaping it with invisible hands. 7

As the young eagle looks on, he comes to see that the storm that he once thought was for nothing more than destruction, was actually used to replenish what was lost in the heat of the fire star, and also to destroy or distort something of age, was actually to bring it new life. After a hour or so of the pounding storm, the out-pour of rain became drizzles, and the one dark and angry clouds that brought forth new discoveries, began to give the day back. Slowly and cautiously, the eagle emerged from his hiding place with a bit more humbled spirit, and a new respect for Mother Earth in all her moods.8

The sweet smell of newly fallen rain flitting on the Lady Sea's breath, was quite a pleasing mix. He thinks back to the rains that showered the jade forest in which he was from, how the leaves from the might flowing willows, to the large oaks, Â giggled and rejoiced for there mother had given them life again, refreshed there tired roots with loving vitality. He also remembered how beautiful a single dew drop looked when it slowly rose from the base of a fern, and effortlessly made its way to the end, so gentle so serene, till it met back into the soil from which it came. Nights of blinding lightning filling the sky, making even the stars hide their fire in shame, for the lighting is one goddess that will not be contained. Dancing upon the clouds, like a demonic siren of the night, entrancing you with her fire, only to blind you by her shine. There was nothing more majickal than that, sweet softness of rains lullaby's, well nothing like that till now. 9

Now with day turning into dusk, he spreads his wings and lets out a thoughtful cry, thanking all that can hear him, for showing him ways he never thought possible. With one mighty push he is back in the pillowed air once more. Where may he go now, and what new discoveries will he encounter when he arrives? That answer only rests with the fates, and for now they are not speaking much. Beautiful turquoise skies begin to melt into cotton candy pinks and succulent oranges, as the fire star starts to rest its head for the night. 10

He is greeted as he crosses the once more calmed  Lady Sea, by Luna herself, bidding him good eve and great blessings. He feels so safe and secure in her great blanket of darkness and loves when she shines brightly down, illuminating all that dance within her light. Many a night can he remember sitting on his perch, just simply gazing at the twinkling diamonds that were always neatly fastened in her honor. To be able to soar along side such grace is complete a deep honor. Exhaustion begins to set in and this young fighter looks for a place to rest for the night. Edging the end of the vast ocean, Luna shines light in a abandoned tree that is thick with supple leaves. He thinks to himself that this would be a grand place for some rest. Swiftly he swoops down and lands, looking this nights bed over with contentment. Nestling down into the branches of this gracious tree, he begins to fade off to sleep, but before shutting his eyes completely, he give his love and respects to the Gods and Goddesses that have looked out for him in this new adventure of his.11

    Applaud

Excellent perceptions and oneness with nature from the Eagle's perspective, not unlike Livingston Seagull, but much more from a hunters point of view. Excellent work that is well worthy of applause.

Stunning! The descriptions and visions that you set with your words simply knocked me over! Not so many months ago I ran into a poet named Lady Sangria and have watched her grow into a super poetress; one that I always look forward to reading. This one is no exception. Perhaps we will have the enjoyment of reading a part 2 someday. Love, love love this!!!!

    Excellent write

You certainly captured the essence of the eagle and wrote a fine book about the subject. I think you put a great deal of work into this write. It shows and I really enjoyed reading this one. Very good.
