Can you pinpoint that one devastating time in your life when everything you know to be true - changes?2

I can, the summer of 1968,3

my Mother died and that was it for me.5

The crystal like castle I lived in crumbled - then an evil twist of duplicating the Cinderella story happened. Not to only me but my siblings as well.7

We had never known any different we thought we were normal, the average family. Mom, Dad big brother, me and one little brother and one little sister.9

We had two cars and a color t.v., Our mom was in the rotary club and painted on Wednesdays and taught art to the kindergarten class. 13

She had me enrolled in the Brownies and later the Girlscouts -17

Dad even attempted to act like a father once or twice. 19

Volunteering at the Scout BB-Q's. He was off to cook, I thought he had come with me. He was the life of the party, everyone standing around him as he told his redneck jokes. The water slide into the pool looked inviting , the fact that it was at the deep end and I was ten and could not swim never deterred me from daring to slide down. 21
