The Great Oxymoron... Me

First off I must start out by explaining something. I am, in fact, a Christian. By the actual Biblical definition, I am a Christian. By the modern sociological definition, I am not. Furthermore, I am getting rather perturbed by these “religious zealots” calling themselves Christians. Yes, I am a Christian ranting about what I don’t like about Christianity. This is not a contradiction. Let me further my explanation.1

The purpose of Christianity has morphed into a sick exclusive club used to bash “lesser” while it originally was God’s plan to expound on the Jewish faith, and to make it all inclusive. Here is how it all plays out:2

First: God (an all perfect diety) creates mankind to be His friends. People to love Him, and people for Him to love.3

Second: In order for man to love God in love’s purist form, man had to choose to love God. Thus enters free will.4

Then: Man chooses to rebel against the love of God. Thus evil enters into the human race.5

Now: A perfect God is separated from His imperfect humanity. Now begins the greatest love story ever. Its title: Redemption.6

After That: God forms a covenant (an unbreakable agreement) with the children of Israel (AKA Jaco that He will be their God and never forsake them. He is their savior from the evil in their own hearts. Enter the Jews!7

But God wanted more than Just the Jews. He wanted all of His children to be reunited with Him. He wanted all of Humanity back! The only way to do that would be to somehow get the Gentiles grafted into the covenant with Israel. The only way to do that would be with the shedding of sinless Jewish blood. 8

Since God so loved the world (John 3:16) He gave His one and only Son to live a sinless life and die for the Gentiles to be grafted into the covenant. Jesus!9

Now: The gentiles have access to the covenant of Israel. They have a “ticket” to friendship with God. They are set free from evil. Their sins are completely erased from the records of history. They are the ROYAL SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF GOD!10

Also: It is a FREE GIFT, and no one has any form of boasting rights as to earning it in any way!11

This is where I get miffed! So many Christians go about bragging of their superiority to the “lost” and looking down on anyone who has taken a beating from the world. They forget that without Jesus they too would be just as “lost!”12

They forget that Jesus did it all for them, and what He did was enough. Them flaunting their deeds around as if it has EARNED them salvation is a SLAP TO GOD’S FACE! There is nothing we could have done to earn it. It is God’s free gift to us.13

Many also forget that they are just as much “sinners” as the rest of the world. THAT’S WHY GOD SO LOVED THE WHOLE WORLD! THEY ALL NEEDED TO BE SAVED! To act high and mighty is to be a hypocrite, and to and to look down on others for their sin is to be a Pharisee. Both of which Jesus warned against.14

Also: look at it this way. To go around pointing out peoples sins is to be an accuser. The bible explicitly gives Satan the name of “Accuser of the Brethren!” So, frankly, to be an accuser of peoples sins is to be a form of Satan! I doubt these “Christians” would be so cavalier about shooting down the world if they knew they were playing the role of Satan.15

Being a Christian playing the role of Satan is the oxymoron, not being a Christian ranting about this sick reversal of roles and perversion of the Gospel of Christ.16

Christianity was never meant to be an exclusive religion! It was designed by God, as an all inclusive relationship with Him!17

There you have it! A rant about what I don’t like about Christianity… by a Christian!18

Very understandable. I get what you mean perfectly. Many don't realize how much Christianity has been twisted and toyed with. I have also thought similar thoughts as this. You really brought out some great points, especially when you said "Now begins the greatest love story ever. Its title: Redemption.". I really liked that. Yeah, I am surrounded by many who accuse others of their sin. It's as if sometimes some Christians take others' judgements into their own hands, which is wrong. And sometimes they do it without realizing it. Not all are like this but I have heard many in my years judging others. And what pisses me off is when the ones that judge others and say they are going to hell (which completely makes me mad for someone to bluntly say that) are the same ones who seem to have their own life out of tune with God. That's one of the reasons why I've stopped calling myself a Christian. For one, I am a sinner and haven't come back to that place of God so I won't call myself a Christian since that would be hypocritical. Second, things like that, with some Christians being hypocritical themselves, turns me off from the term. And, agreeing mostly with what you have had to say, many have completely perverted the term and meaning in itself. I prefer the term "Spiritual" now.

This was a good write. Very interesting, made me think a bit more, and it makes sense. Thanks for entering!
