I Surrender

Introduction: Ashley was a normal young woman, but to most she was not normal. She, like Harry, lost her parents because of Voldemort.Her story is just like Harry’s but with secrets that she could not tell anyone, but those who understood. She received her scar on her leftside of her forehead and Harry on his right, but her wand had a Phoenix feather, but it was a wing feather and she had Mahogany at the handle tip. She had done almost about everything with Harry, but got better grades then him. Through their years of Hogwarts they went through a lot. In their 6th year, all four of them realized that Ashley and Harry shared a bond, that if Voldemort figured it out, they both would die or others would die. This story takes place in their 7th year and Harry and Ashley were going out, but they just broke up due to the fact of a rumor, that she had been sleeping around. Ashley denies it, but Harry won’t listen. What Ashley doesn’t know is that her enemy is beginning to have feelings for her.1

Chapter 1:A New Friendship2

Ashley was walking to her next class, Defense Against the Darks Arts.Harry was walking to DADA too, but he decided to avoid Ashley as much as he could. Ashley saw Harry and just walked past him, but she bumped into the one person, she didn’t want to bump into, Draco Malfoy.3

“Well, well, Going a bit fast for a pot-head Potter”, he smirked.4

“Oh bite me Malfoy, you of all people should stay out of my way. I have no time or in the mood for your insults”, she said.5

Ashley walked until she got into the classroom, while Malfoy just stood there until Harry walked past him. Malfoy was about to say some kind of an insult to Harry, but just walked in right behind him. Hermione sat with Ashley, while Harry sat with Ron.They waited until the professor walked in, but it was weird when the Professor didn’t walk in until after 5 minutes after class had started. When she did, she was noticed by a loud crash, after which she dusted herself off.6

“Hello Class, I trust you all are ready to start your class. We will begin the art of Legimens or as it’s also known as, Reading minds. As most of you know, legimens is usually used with a wand, but this type is used with your mind”, said Professor Tonks.7

Everyone looked at Tonks and Ashley took a glance to see that Harry and Draco were worried about the subject. Ashley looked to see that Hermione was most anxious to get started. Ashley felt a stare and turned to see that Draco was the one who was staring. She thought to her self, but shook it off as Tonks wrote something on the board.8

“Ok, everyone put away your wands and clear your minds”, she replied after she was done.9

Everyone did as they were told and Ashley tried to clear her mind, but it kept on drifting to Harry. She looked to see that Harry’s mind wasn’t either. She quickly shook off her thoughts on Harry and cleared her mind when she looked at Draco to see what he was doing to clear his mind. She noticed that he was staring right at her. A little creeped out she faced to the front and cleared her mind, although it was not easy. She thought of reading Harry’s thought and all of a sudden she could.10

Ashley really expects me to forgive her, but I know that she really was sleeping around. I bet she even slept with Malfoy. Man Hermione looks really beautiful today. I wonder what she is thinking.11

Ashley cringed at the thought of sleeping with Malfoy at the time and the fact of what Harry was saying or more like thinking. Now the thought of Draco made Ashley wonder if maybe it could knock Harry to his senses, but the thought of a Slytherin made her shiver. Ashley began to think about that bond she shared with Harry and how they found out last year. At this time she was beginning to want to scream it at Harry, but held back on the account that class was almost over.12

“Hey Ashley!”  , said a voice from behind her.13

“What the hell do you want Draco and what is with calling me Ashley.I thought you enjoyed insulting me”, she replied.14

Draco looked at her and smirked. Ashley looked at him and saw that his eyes had softened since earlier.15

What the hell is wrong with his eyes? They look like he’s been hurt badly. There is no way I could have done that. Wait a minute, before I jump to any conclusions I better let him speak.16

“I just want to ask why you’re so keen on Potter anyway. He seems like a bloody grit to me”, Draco inquired.17

Ashley looked at him and gave him a glance.18

“And why does it matter to you. I’m a Gryffindor and you’re a Slytherin. You’ve hated my guts since day one, so why the sudden change in attitude after one class”, she asked.19

“You know what, I don’t know why I even bothered to ask”, he said.20

Draco began to walk away and Ashley grabbed his arm. She looked to see that no one was around.21

“Draco, wait. I’m sorry I’m a bit pissed. It’s just something I heard in Harry’s thoughts. I’m sorry, now what was it you wanted to say”, She said quietly.22

Draco turned around and gave her a warm smile. Ashley smiled back, but she was wondering why he was being so nice all of a sudden.23

“No need to apologize. I should be the one who should apologize. I was such a jerk over the past 6 years. To tell you the truth, I was just angry at my whole life”, he replied.24

Ashley looked at him and all of a sudden was over come by a new emotion. She smiled and all of a sudden felt like Draco was telling the truth.25

“Your apology is accepted”, she whispered.26

Draco nodded and Ashley looked at her watch. She gasped and looked at Draco.27

“We have to go or we’ll be late for our next class. I have Transfiguration”, she said softly.28

“Yeah and I have Potions. I’ll be sure to have fun with Snape”.29

Ashley rolled her eyes and softly kissed him on the cheek.30

“I’ll talk to you later, but no one can know that we are talking. Hermione and Ron would kill me if they knew I was talking to the ‘enemy’. Yeah and I bet Harry would be livid, but I would love to see that”, she laughed.31

“The same if Pansy, Crabbe, Goyle and the rest of the Slytherins knew”.32

Ashley and Draco walked their separated ways and Ashley started to wonder what was going on with him.33

What the hell is wrong with me, Draco is the enemy! Why is Draco so nice all of a sudden? Oh for the love of Merlin, why am I inquiring on it when I know the answers. Draco must like me or maybe even love me. I guess that’s why he was a bit mean before class and was silent and staring at me. And yet he seems sweet for apologizing for what he did to me. Harry probably wouldn’t even do that. Oh well, will come around, but until then he can wallow in his own self-pity.34

She walked into class and took notes, but in her mind she kept wondering what was happening with her and Draco. When class was over she walked to the Great Hall for some dinner. She sat across from Ron and next to Hermione. Harry was next to Ron, but Ashley ate silent, while Ron stuffed his mouth with food. Hermione turned to Ashley.35

“So how was your day Ashley? I had a wonderful day and I just can’t wait until N.E.W.T.S exams are here”, she asked cheerfully.36

“Oh I had a good day except until DADA.I heard something I didn’t want to hear”, she said giving Harry a glare.37

Hermione looked at Ashley to Harry and then continued.38

“Anything else happen that might make you a bit cheery? ”39

“Well, not unless there is some kind of miracle coming, but Draco did apologize to me for being so mean all those years”, Ashley replied.40

Hermione, Ron, and Harry all spurted out their pumpkin juice, as she said this. Hermione and Harry looked at her, while Ron looked at Draco.41

“He What?” asked Harry and Hermione in unison.42

“He apologized for being so mean to me all those years and insulting me”.43

“He’s got to be up to something if he’s apologizing to you”, said Harry.44

“Why does it matter to you, you’re the one who thinks I slept with him. It personally made my day a bit better. You, on the other hand, are a complete twit and grit. He’s still my enemy, but its at least good that he’s apologizing unlike some people”, she replied.45

She got up before Harry could even answer her reply or even argue it. She ran out of the great hall and the only thing she heard from Harry was, “What the hell does she mean”. Ashley ran all the way to the lake and sat down on a rock. After 5 minutes of sulking she heard someone coming and turned around.46

“Oh Hi Victoria”, she said.47

“Hi Ashley, what’s wrong? I only heard from Hermione, what you told Harry”.48

“My whole life is what’s wrong, Victoria. I love Harry with all my heart, but I just can’t stand the fact he’ll believe what he is told. Especially by the only people who wanted to break us up. I just don’t understand, what happened to him. I don’t think he even cares if Voldemort kills us and everyone else”.49

“How can you say that about Harry, you know as well as I do that he cares about what happens to you and everyone else. Harry is your friend, he’ll come around in his own time. Trust me he will realize that you were telling the truth and apologize, but he might not get back together with you just yet. Give him time and he’ll come around, until then just be the best friend you are”, said Victoria.50

“You’re right, I’ll just leave him to his own terms for a few days before I talk to him”, replied Ashley.51

Ashley hugged Victoria and they both began to skip rocks. Victoria was like a twin sister to Ashley. She had always been there for her, even more then Hermione had. Ashley had three bestest friends, Victoria, Chris, and Hermione. Well actually these were her bestest friends that were girls. She really had more guy friends, then she had gal friends.52

“Well Ashley, I better go. Ron might wonder where I’m at”, said Victoria.53

“Yeah, I bet your boyfriend, Ron will worry sick about you. I’m going to stay here for a while longer”.54

Victoria smirked and nodded. She walked back up to the castle and Ashley continued to skip rocks. Ashley was there for how long, she didn’t know. She just skipped rocks until she heard another familiar voice.55

“Ashley, are you ok? After what happened in the great hall, I thought you were regretting our friend ship”.56

“I’m not really, Draco. I only did that because I love Harry with all my heart, but I just hate what he’s doing to me, one of his best friends. I told them that, so they wouldn’t find out about our friendship”.57

Draco sat down next to her and looked at her. She looked at him and she could see some emotion in his gray eyes. The only thing they showed was, that he was hurt about something, but took a guess what it was.58

“Is there anything I can help you with, to make you feel better?” he asked.59

“Not really. Only if you can knock some sense into Harry with out hurting him”, she laughed.60

Draco laughed with her and when she stopped he smiled. Something she had ever really seen Draco do. When he smiled, Ashley felt like that there is more to Draco the she had ever thought. She sighed and looked out at the moon light on the lake.61

“Come on Ashley, its almost 10:00.We should really get to bed before a prefect finds us and I know you don’t want to lose points anymore then I do”, he said looking at his watch.62

“Ok, Draco. After all, We still class tomorrow and I bet our day is going to be just as much as eventful as it was today”, she smirked.63

Draco smirked and helped her up. They walked up to the castle, smiling at how much they had changed to one another in one day. Ashley looked back at the lake before she entered through the great oak doors to see that there was a beautiful scene on the lake with the moonlight and, what looked like, the squid. Ashley smirked and walked in.64
