The slowly setting sunset flung rich light across the water, creating a yellow brick road to the source of the mayhem. The sea roared, pounding against the sand. Waves reached high into the sky, reaching for the teasing lantern just beginning to appear high up in the darkness pushing the colours away, the Moon.1
They dance with a rhythm that none but them know, transforming the last of the sunshine through the dappled green glass into a kaleidoscope of colours. A light breeze whisks the waves gently into a peak, rushing past and streaming my hair behind me. The briny wind invigorates my senses with a familiar smell, salt. 2
Sand sifts through my toes, the warm golden material gradually cooling in the night air. I bend down to pick up a handful, feeling the grains slipping through my grasp. The sand stretches all around the unpredictable sea, in a horseshoe shape. A hidden bay secretly keeping to itself.3
Emerald palm trees stretch above my head, rocking slightly. Through their leaves I see the stars beginning to wink, shining brightly. I relax in my hammock, and let it swing softly. Slowly my eyes flicker shut, and sleep flies towards me on midnight wings as I listen to the sound of the sea.
