'In the shadow of the moon, she danced in the starlight, whispering a haunting tune to the night'3
Slowly the beat she made with her hands picked up a rhythm, her feet moving to join. Her red hair waved in the wind of her passing, she sang her song of sadness out to the silent woods around her. Her heart was as empty as the distances between the stars that flickered high above her, their unending stare a testament to her own loss. Slowly she picked up speed, and the wind itself joined her dance. Howling through the trees, it too made a song, forlorn and forgotten. She called out to him.4
'Velvet skirts go round and round, fire in her stare, in the woods without a sound, no one cared'5
He sat under a tree, the pale light of the moon barely reaching him through the leaves. Ever since that day a year ago, he couldn't stop thinking of her. Ever since then, his whole idea of the world, and how it was, had been turned upside down. And now he found himself wishing for a time when life was simple and magic was as normal as breathing. He sighed, and glanced around him, just in time to see the ghostly white flicker of a girl dancing in the distance. His heart beating loudly, he jumped up, following the ghost, never noticing that the woods themselves had gone silent. The only sound that reached him was the wind howling through the trees, and a forlorn and forgotten song. He couldn't do anything else, but follow.6
'Through the darkened fields entranced, music made her poor heart dance, thinking of a lost romance, long ago'7
Off in the distance, the fire around which she danced could be seen, so bright that it shone with the power of the sun. Blindingly bright the light flickered through her fiery hair, casting an unnatural blaze on her surroundings. Yet she didn't care where she was, she was calling him. Her determination was so intense that her eyes blazed with her need for somebody she had only seen for a moment. Dancing around and around, her spidery white silk robe waved in the wind, it's white streaked with light-red reflections from the fire in her eyes and the fire around which she was casting her spell.8
'Feeling lonely feeling sad, she cried in the moonlight, driven by a world gone mad'9
She opened her mouth, and sang. The notes joined the howling of the wind, and the power of her plight echoed throughout the forest. Every creature that could hear it, was moved to join her, and wolves howled to the darkness. The stars flickered on, watching her bend time to her will. Love for him was so strong that the very reality in which she existed was being weakened. In this clearing in the forest, past, present and future were beginning to come apart, and blend. And yet she danced her song, around and around, she called to him.10
'Feel no sorrow feel no pain, feel no hurt, there's nothing gained, only love will then remain'11
Peace came upon him as he followed the song that he had heard for only a moment so long ago, and yet it felt like yesterday. Far in the distance he could see a bright light, and he knew she was there, calling him. His pace quickened. He wished only to join her, to see her, if only for another moment. Yet he knew somewhere deep within him that the clock ticks on, and he would never see her again. Fate could not be twisted to one person's will. Yet he hoped, and hope was a powerful force too. His hope and her love combined, and the past, present, and future become fluid, blending in this one spot. He raced on, knowing he would only have this one chance.12
'Somewhere just beyond the mist, spirits were seen flying'13
Time bent and yelled, the howling of the wind so loud that it sounded like a storm, yet the brightness of the fire around her was unimaginable. She sang louder. Her voice joined those of the past, and those of the future. And from the clearing it sounded like a thousand voices singing in anguish against the horrible fate that had befallen so many other people.14
Time itself was being broken and remade into what she wanted, to be with him.15
The light of her love shone as bright as the day, and the clock ticks on...16
