My Father

His days alive lesson
His hard life has been so oppressing1

Thought he may die
His children live on and look to the sky2

Memories of him will last forever
Be forgotten, never3

He is my father
I am his daughter4

Our happy times together
Will last farther than forever5

Nothing will diminish the memories of him
I will let nothing cause the skies to dim6

This light of his grows weaker
I will protect my mother, nothing shall strike her7

I take his place
As I gaze upon his worn face8

Someone who has been there
Who showed that they really care10

No one will speak bad of him
Or may god have pity on them 11

For I will not
I’ll show them with all I’ve got 12

That he was a great dad
The best that anyone might have ever had13

He may have hit me once or twice
He may have shined like an angel, almost too nice14

He has beaten down my will
I have taken abuse, more then my fill15

But that will not change that he was there
Showing that he cared16

These days as of now
Have made my eyes go wider then and owls17

He has cleaned up his act
And shown me that18

He is more than a devil
But my dad loving and faithful19

I love him 20

The man he was 21
