Chapter one: Rebecca
I woke to the sound of rain. Not unusual for my new home in Washington. My heart was trying to pound out of my chest. Then I remembered my dream...Though it didnt feel like a dream.
I had been walking through a forest, I couldnt tell which one because where I lived there were tons of neverending forests. I had heard my name being called and I turned in circles because it sounded like the sound came from all around me.
"Rebecca," A voice said from behind me.
I turned to see the most beautiful creature ever in front of me. He had black hair and emerald green eyes. He walked slowly towards me. "Dont be afraid Rebecca, I wont hurt you." He beckoned me closer but I took a step back.
"Rebecca," He crooned, "I wont bite." He chuckled. I stepped back again to trip over a fallen log. He was behind me catching me.
"To bad, huh?" He said as he went to strangle me. I woke up.
"Rebecca!" My mothers voice sounded from downstairs. "Time to get up!"
"Ugh! I said and flopped back on my pillows.
My mother and I had just moved here following her and my fathers ugly divorce. It was september first, which meant the first day of school. I got up and went to my closet, grabbing a pair of plain blue jeans and a black t-shirt that said 'Bit me' and had a vampire on the front. I got dressed, put on my shoes, and rushed to the bathroom to brush through my mess of hair and brush my teeth.
"Rebecca! Its 8:00! Hurry up!"
"Coming mom!" I yelled. I took one last look in the mirror and sighed. I grabbed my backpack off the toilet seat lid and ran downstairs.

When I got to school I had fifteen minutes til the bell rang. I flipped my hair over my shoulder and got out of my car. A couple of boys down the row from where I parked were looking at me smiling, and talking.
Oh great, I thought and walked into the school.
"Um, hello?" I asked as I looked into the office. An older lady walked up.
"Hi, how may I help you?" She asked.
"Hi, I'm Rebecca Renee O'Connell, I just moved here." I said trying to smile.
"Oh, okay just a minute...You already registered right?"
"Yeah I registered yesterday," I said.
"Okay, here are your classes and heres a map. Have a great day. Oh have this signed by all of your teachers and bring it back to me at the end of the day."
"Okay thankyou," I said looking down at my map and turning around. Only to run into someone.
"Oh!" I said as I hit the ground. I looked up into startleing green eyes and gasped. It was the boy from my dream.
He glared and turned to walk the other direction. My eyes filled with tears as I gathered up my papers and notebooks. I walked into my first hour class right as the bell rang. The teacher, Mrs. Long, raised an eyebrow at my late entrance.
"Yes, what do you need?" She asked in an annoyed voice.
"Um, I'm new here," Was all I could manage.
"Oh, so you're the new girl," She said as I handed her the slip, "You can have a seat back by Dakota." She pointed at a boy with auburn hair and braces.
"Hi!" He said as I sat down, "Im Dakota Smith, its nice to meet you." He said as he shook my hand.
"I'm Rebecca O'Connell, I moved from Idaho."
"Oh thats cool I used to live in Cour D' Alene, with my brother and sister."
"Really I didnt live to far from there, my dad still lives there." I said, grateful for something in common with someone already.
"Today we will be handing out books and starting on chapter one, when I call your name please come up to my desk and I will give you a book," Mrs. Long said and started calling on each of the students.
First hour went pretty fast, it was english so it was something I didnt mind at all.
Second hour was a whole different story, it was PE. I was a total clutz so it was going to be interesting.
We were playing basketball, which was bad. Most of the kids on both teams learned to just stay out of my way because I was such a danger zone.
Fourth hour was better than any of my other classes. At least I was starting to see some familiar faces. One girl who I had thrown the basketball to and hit her in the head was friendly. Her name was Jessica. She sat by me in art, along with her was Dakota. Art was saving grace. I loved to draw, sketch, and paint...It was something I felt I was actually good at. Today in art we got to sit around and talk, so it wasnt so bad...For other people. I didnt really know anyone so I mainly stood by the window and watched the PE class run laps around the track. I dropped the pen I was playing with so I ducked down to get it. When I looked back up the boy with violent green eyes and black hair was staring at me from below. My heart started hammering, and I broke out in a cold sweat from the feeling of hatred pouring from his glare.
I turned around and went back to sit by Jessica and Dakota.
"Whats wrong Rebecca?" Dakota looked at me questioningly, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," I mumbled.
"Okay," He looked back at Jessica and shrugged.
Finally the bell rang for lunch.
"Do you want to sit with us?" Jessica asked smiling kindly.
"Sure, I'd love to." I said trying to return the smile.
I looked around the cafeteria waiting for the hate filled glare. I wasnt feeling all that great so I grabbed a soda and sat down next to Jessica across from Dakota. But as soon as I sat down I almost stood right back up. Across the table two chairs down was the boy. A wave of nausea passed over me and threatened to stay.1
