The silent 16 year old girl hovered at the edge of the group, never taking an opening or attempting to make conversation. She stared at her black and blue vans that peeped out of baggy jeans. *No one notices me, not that I care* the girl thought as she tugged her emerald green tank down over her flat white stomach. She lagged behind the group of giggling glittery girls that were hanging on guys covered in obscene American Eagle and Abercrombie apparel. The girl absent mindedly stared up at the ceiling and the distress in her face melted away. "That's why I like coming here..." she whispered to no one in particular as the stared at the ceiling architecture of the mall, amazed with the crossing bars and shapes it created that only she could see. She felt her tie with gravity loosen as she slowly rose off the ground, forgetting not to be different when around Earthlings. She had hated coming to this planet, especially since it meant leaving her new boyfriends amidst the boy-crazy high schoolers on her planet. Males were rare, so we (it was really only me) had been sent here to study the males of Earth in hopes of bringing more up to our space stations. "And what do I find but a gaggle of brainless dope heads who want to get laid... sheesh" the girl muttered once again to no one but herself. Her partner was actually another girl, the one as skimpily clad as the rest of the Earthling girls.1
The boy's gaze was drawn to the outcast girl with a pale complexion and silvery gray eyes. "What is she doing?", the normally quiet and cautious boy murmered as he stepped away from his arcade game to get a better view of the girl as she floated upwards. His best friend, Tommy, was locked in an intense battle with a dragon, and the boy knew that it would be impolite to interupt Tommy in the 21st level of DragonSlayer. So the boy walked out of the arcade and down a few shops until the got to the food court where the girl was floating pecilularlously in the air staring at the ceiling. "What are you doing?", he asked, trying to sound authoritive, but ending up sounding afraid. "I'm studying the shapes that the pipes make, what are you doing Earthling?", the girl replied in a bored voice, but her eyes danced with glee at having someone to talk to.2
"I'm Jarithia, but you may call me Tithia. What are you called?"3
"Um.." the boy stuttered, "Chesaphere, but uh, um, uh my friends call me Chess."4
