Promise

Promises to me arent really promises. They are more like a leap of faith! When you trust someone enough, you make them promise to keep something like a secret or something you want them to do for you. It's faith that is hidden behind promises. And faith is a very tricky subject.1

Faith is like jumping off the side of a cliff when you most likely know there isn't going to be something to land on. THAT is also a lot like promises. When you make them or when someone else does, you have no backup insurance or a second plan. 2

Promises can be easily broken and they also can be kept even easier. The thing is, when you make a promise you must stick to it, not because you owe it to that person, but because it is a test of your character. It is hard to say that many people don't stick to their promises and yet they are a very key component in any relationship. 3

Promises are like binders that you can close with a lock to protect the papers inside, if you open it and share it with others, chances are it's going to be opened again and again and never will be closed permanently ever again. 4

They are what defines a person in the trust category, and in so many ways it shows you who you can rely on.

That was the part which leapt out at me. This piece makes a vital and very pertinent point about the nature of promises, they are something which definitely should not be taken lightly. This piece captures that well. Thank you for entering, and good luck in the contest.
