Sandrine’s long and wavy hair blew as the air swept around her. She closed her eyes and unbuttoned her long coat, allowing it to billow behind her. She opened her dark green eyes and let them gaze at the starry night sky. The wind felt welcoming against her skirted legs. Her longing for Jadin to have a speedy return suddenly vanished, her stresses gone. She shook her head and sadly headed inside with a sense of peace. Jadin had loved and to him they had a great, loving relationship, but to Sandrine it was just another checkpoint. Time changes people and that does not exclude lovers who believe that love never changes.1
Sandrine was used to people in her life suddenly disappearing and Jadin was no different. She silently moved his things into an already labeled box. His face would remain in her heart as a tender friend. He was tall with a wide grin and eyes that invited you in, he wore glasses that he seldom took off except when he was upset or utterly sad. The pictures of him and her went into the box, the gifts, his shirts, his favorite pin and journal. She sighed as she closed and lifted it onto the middle shelf.2
There weren’t many boxes in her closet just a few of friends who would return for them one day. One box that caught her eye was labeled Dedrik. She frowned and thought that was curious indeed. Not many boxes popped out at her and this one had a light to it. She pulled out the box.3
“Dedrik?” She said to herself, “Oh yea….”4
He was a friend from her childhood, the childhood she barely speaks of now. Dedrik stuck out from the crowd because he was kind to her when all of the other kids strayed away from her. She didn’t blame them though, she was a strange child who has grown into a strange teenager. Her life is very complicated. 5
When she opened the box a butterfly soared free, Sandrine smiled as she saw the things inside. There his picture was. He had brownish red hair and creamy tan skin. Freckles played on his nose and his eyes a light brown with flashes of green. She remembered that all of the children loved him and he was the leader of the group back then.6
“How long has it been?” She thought quietly flipping through the contents of the box.7
Too long she guessed. Sandrine found a paper with promises written on it that Dedrik had forced her to sign before she left Italy. He was so determined that she figured it was important to him. She read: 8
1) I will stay just the way I am9
2) I must try new things10
3) I shouldn’t doubt myself11
4) When I find this I will travel to Brittany, France12
5) I will use the key to enter the club house13
6) I promise to go14
“A promise should not be taken lightly amongst friends and should be fulfilled.”15
Sandrine shook her head at the silly promises, but something nagged at her heart and gut. Her signature lay as clear as day on the page so she shuffled through the things in the box and found a historic looking key. This was crazy and went against all of her logic, but she had to go to Brittany, France. How she knew that was a wonder to her, but her blood rushed with excitement. To Dinan she would go, but convincing her father who adopted her was going to be interesting for she didn’t know the reason she was going so far. She prayed this wasn’t some cruel prank and headed for the door. The butterfly fluttered towards the wind and then suddenly disappeared leaving sparkly dust behind.16
To bad Sandrine’s back was turned, but what was to come was much bigger than that anyhow. It all awaited her in France…17

I thought this one should reveal more because I left the readers guessing last time.
