Collaboration

June 17, 2008 Naples, Sicily1

Hunter sits on a bench outside a church in the quiet countryside. A blue glow shines on Hunter's face as he opens up his laptop and plugs in a set of headphones.2

"Hello Hunter, Agatha speaking. We have received a contract from a client here in Naples. Emilio Fortennio, a local Mafia boss. Fortennio is in charge of a considerably large heroine distribution network throughtout Sicily and it's neighbours. The client wishes that you dispatch of Mr. Fortennio but there are certain complications to this mission Hunter. Bruno Melonese is an assassin for an Italian contract organization. It seems as if our client isn't the only one wishing that Fortennio be dealt with it. Now we have surveillence of Bruno scouting potential entry points to Fortennio's mansion. We have contacted his organization and have agreed to collaborate to insure that this rather difficult mission be completed, I know you are used to working alone Hunter but this time you may need the help. I have arranged for you to meet Bruno at a local cafe about two miles from Fortennio's mansion. Good luck Hunter.".3

Hunter closes his laptop and places it inside his suitcase. He checks his watch and gets up off of the hard wooden bench. He boards a bus and travels to Bruno Melonese's location at the cafe. 4

Hunter arrives and exits the bus in front of the small cafe. There is a single man sitting outside sipping a cup of coffee. This man was at least 35 years old. He had slick black hair and brown eyes. He waves at Hunter.5

"Greetings, welcome to Naples." said the man, he had a thick Sicilian accent. Hunter sat down across from the man. "I am Bruno Melonese, your employers have told me to meet you here." said Bruno. "How did you know I was the man you were looking for?" questions Hunter. "Well not everyday in Naples do you see a man dressed as yourself, not to mention you do not look like a Sicilian." explains Bruno. Hunter nods and waves at a waitress over and orders a cup of coffee. "Well, I suppose it would be best to discuss the task at hand Mr. Melonese." says Hunter. "Fair enough. Emilio Fortennio is heavily guarded at all times. My informant within his mansion tells me the easiest way to gain entrance is the back gate, there are fewer guards. He says that Fortennio sleeps with ten men guarding the floor in which his bedroom is. He has two watch towers on the property so we''ll have to strike at night. As far as getting into his room goes I'd suggest finding a way in through the window." informs Bruno. "Why don't we just snipe him from a distance?" asks Hunter. "He never leaves the house. He sends his men to get his groceries and all meetings are held at the mansion. If he happens to leave on very rare occasion he leaves in a bullet proof limo that picks him up in an underground garage." responds Bruno. "Well this will be hard but it is possible. We should leave soon. It is getting dark." says Hunter getting up from his chair. "Okay, we'll strike at midnight." replies Bruno...6

To be concluded...7

    Very Good

You did a great job with this piece. I thought the characters seemed very real and the language was superb. Are you going to write a part 2? I'm hooked and I'll be tuned in.

    beginning: 4, language: 5, plot: 2, ending: 3, dialog: 5, characters: 4.
