Doctor Who: The Frozen Times

In a far off village of Kingston on a far off planet known only as Kystar people are bustling around haggling at a market. Several teleport apertures appear causing utter chaotic panic in the streets alien warriors finally form out of the apertures. The warriors appear as frozen barbaric beings. They shoot into the air with their guns, and the panic stops in place guards set up beams around the perimeter of the village. The lead warrior looks at all the people, and states “it’s time for the cold war to begin.” The beams all fire in unison around the town freezing the air instantly, as it rains sleet, and heavy snow.1

The TARDIS appears just outside the village of Kingston, out steps the Doctor and his companion Bob Baxter. The Doctor looks around at the sky while Bob is looking forward to the village of Kingston. Bob sees nothing but a black cloud that perfectly formed around the village, everywhere else seemed to have clear skies except the village. “Now there’s something you don’t see every day, it’s like a cartoon where the storm cloud follows the character around the cells.” Bob says to the Doctor who is still looking to the sky. 3

“Oh, it’s more than that Bob, it’s a frozen empire.” The Doctor starts running to the village with Bob in hot pursuit of the Doctor. Soon they are running side by side getting closer to the village, and while they are running the temperature keeps dropping. The temperature shows variances which display on Bob’s wrist watch as he is running with the Doctor he looks at him and says “Doctor the temperatures decreasing rapidly around us.”4

“You wouldn’t know it by my appearance Bob, but I can feel it drop around us as we approach that village ahead. As a Time Lord, I can’t really tell it’s as cold as it appears to be to you.” Then the Doctor starts to slightly slow down and looks at Bob, “Good thing you got your coat on otherwise you probably would of froze with each step to that village.”5

“But why are we going there Doctor?” Bob asks curiously. 6

“We are going there because it’s not normal Bob, come on you can’t believe that cloud surrounding that village for no good reason. Now comeon lets get going Bob.”7

In the village of Kingston warriors are marching around as people are going about their normal lives. People seem to be ignoring the frozen warriors for the most part. The gate to the village opens as heads turn to see what the commotion is. It is as if the village hasn’t had any visitors in a long time. One of the frozen warriors speaks to the people at the gate. “What is your business here?” 9

The Doctor and Bob give a look to each other. As if they both know what these frozen warriors are. “I’m John Smith, and this is Bob Baxter. Our vehicle broke down nearby, and we came to pick up supplies to fix it.” The warrior looked at the psychic paper and let them in to the village. “You will report to the magistrate, and will be cataloged,” said the warrior by the gate.10

As they were escorted in Bob looked at the Doctor, and said “why didn’t you tell them who you were?” 11

“Bob, you and I know these ice warriors; it seems to me someone’s controlling them and forcing them to enslave this particular village. Giving them information that I’m the Doctor would only alert whoever is in charge of the Triskiliatians. That’s the last thing I want right now, and the last thing we need is a full scale war on our hands.” The Doctor looked around, “Just look at them Bob, these people are scared and only just now getting back to what they would normally be doing.”12

“What do you mean by that Doctor?” Bob asked in a low tone.13

“Bob, please stick to John Smith for now, and I mean that for a village this big there seems to be not as many people as one would expect for a Sunday. My question is where are the rest of the villagers and what are they doing.”14

Bob looked around and then saw that though there were people around, it wasn’t as many as he would expect out and about. “I see your point John Smith.” As they continued into the village the guard followed them closely. 15

“You’ll need to head up to the right and check in with the magistrate.” The guard aimed his gun at both the Doctor and Bob. 16

“I can see we have little choice in the matter,” the Doctor said.17

“You are lucky we even let you into the village at all Mr. Smith.” The guard said as his finger got closer to the trigger.18

“There’s no need to fire your weapon we will go peacefully to this Magistrate.” The Doctor replied.19

One of the villagers made a bold move; he ran up to the guard and asked him to stop for a moment. “What is it that you want?” The guard asked.20

“I just want a moment with these men and I would like to have a minute with them please. The villager said.21

“Because of your stature in the village you will be granted one minute as you requested Mayor Gillum.” The Guard lowered his weapon and stood aside for the moment.22

“Gentlemen, before you go and see the Magistrate there’s something I need to tell you.” Mayor Gillum then started to whisper so that the guard wouldn’t hear him. “I’m sorry that you are now part of this village, at this time it’s not a great chapter in our fair village. We are being held against our wills, and we can’t leave for anything. We have been stuck here for a bit over a little over a year.”23

“Very interesting indeed, so you’re telling me this village is in itself a hostage throughout this planet. Do you know why they are holding you hostage?” The Doctor asked.24

“No, we really have no idea. Most of the younger men and teenage children are working below the earth. What I seen from the ones that return they are mindless, and don’t say much to anyone, but yet the whole population just goes on with the day to day events.”25

“This is troublesome indeed, I know these ice warriors I’ve seen them before. They are from another world from Triskiliatian and they are known as the Triskiliatians. They really don’t have a mind of their own, usually easily manipulated. There has to be someone that has brought them here but for what. Tell you what Mayor, once we are done with the Magistrate I would like to see this underground.” The Doctor said as he was in deep thought. 26

“Your time has expired you will come with me Mr. Smith, and Bob.” The guard said as he lifted his gun back at them. 27

“There’s no need for the gun.” Bob said, “As we are going to come peacefully.”28

They walked what seemed to be quite a distance in the very small village; the Triskiliatin was right behind them the entire way. They finally stopped at some very large doors to a very large building that seemed to be out of place in the village. The doors swung open as they approached it and the monitor on the wall lit up as a face that the Doctor seemed to recall very well appeared out of the static. The Doctor looked closely at the face that appeared out of the static. “It can’t be… No… Yes, Noooo.” 29

“Who is it Mr. Smith,” said Bob in a quiet whisper. 30

The voice looked on as Bob was speaking. “Mr. Smith wouldn’t do. I feel the presence of a Time Lord, and the only one I know of to still be alive is the coward from Gallifrey known as THE DOCTOR.” You both will be kept under the village for the rest of your lives. You will NOT send me back to that dimension. You cannot send me The almighty Istar back. You will not, guards cease them and take them to the underground to never be seen again. “31

The scene changes to the Doctor talking to Istar. “One final chance, Istar I can take you to another planet to live peacefully.” Or I will stop you.”37

Another image plays out as the Ice warriors start freezing the village one by one.38
