when you're too young to notice how off things are2
when i was younger i never questioned my father3
my mother was the only one who saw me naked4
and i would never dream of hitting my (step)grandfather5
but when that sweet sixteen rolls around6
all the unspoken secrets and hushed meetings7
seem to burst forward8
your tongue gets a little sharper9
and you're eyes raise a little high10
you forget all the Christmases & Chanukkah gifts11
all the summers spent on a swing12
all the times when there was no left to run to.....13
it's crazy how all those memories 14
can disappear in a single death15
then every thing makes sense16
or maybe for once you realize that it doesn't
