Isn't it annoying when your stories don't get read

Don't you think it is annoying when your stories don't get read?1

You sit there, at your desk. You slave away at the endless piles of scripted plans that you wish to one day publish.2

Tick...Tock... you only have this time and you want feedback. You want feedback now, not tomorrow, not next week and definitely not next year. You want it NOW !!!3

So you carry on submitting your stories, checking your account, checking your e-mail and messages and for what?4

Do we write in vain?5

So as a writer imagine this.6

What if you had spent the last ten years on a novel only for it to be thrown into a pile, never to be shown to the world because no one would read it? Because no one is reading it?7

where has the last ten years of your life gone?8

Answer me this.

I know this feeling so very well. I continuously think, why do I write when I know what I am saying is not being read by anyone other then those I am extremely close to.

So very, very true. Now I have read this I am trying to keep up more with all the commenting on stories. I know how it feels to not have your novel read, and it so annoying, and feels pretty pointless writing if noone reads it. But i totally agree with yoU!!

I guess I'm torn between wanting people to read my stories, and wanting people to ignore me. When people read my stories, I sort of feel like they're laughing at me internally. But, it also feels awful for people to just not want to read my stories. I'm so confusing.

I often feel the same way

If i had to live on comments given to my stories i would die within a couple of days. I send my stuff to publishers all the time and use this website for a bit of practice. Most comments you get anyway are stuff like 'Very good, i liked it a lot' or 'In paragraph three word eight you missed out the apostrophe' so comments here are normally useless anyway.
I write for the enjoyment of the creative process so i can live with being ignored, but even so i agree with you that lack of comments to a piece you have sweated over can be annoying and frustrating. Now stick that sentance in your pipe and smoke it.

Funny how this manages to get read and given a lot of comments. When it bitches about people not reading they comment it and give their point of views.

But it is the wrong thing for them to comment on, whether this makes them comment other things or not though.

I hate when people don't read what you work on alot, makes you feel like you failed somewhere alone the line.

Great Blair (: Open peoples closed minds and make them at least want to look into other peopls work.

    HONESTLY?

Question also remains...Do you listen...really listen to some of the constructive comments SOME people make...beyond the mere accolades or simply negative ones? Do you truly seek to improve? Grow? Alter your course? Or do you sulk, anger, repeat the same errors and mistakes...depress...and follow only your OWN ways? Or are you open...TRULY OPEN to alternative courses and pathways?
BUT...someone once said: Why do we write? Because if we don't...we die!
The writer also writes because he or she wants to change the world. First, however, we must also consider changing ourselves.
BTW...THIS piece of yours...is one of the better ones I've seen...in terms of form and expression...grammar, spelling and punctuation...LITERACY! A start!
