You probably don’t remember any of this; that’s why he wrote it all down. You needed some sort of memory, some sign that you had a before and not just an after. There’s always been a you in all his days but not in yours. For you, its just a me as in you, but only you can decipher what you he means. There is truth in all this silly nonsense, he assures you, dear friend, just none that you may recognize. That’s another thing, this nonsense subject. You’ve been through a lot of it and he knows you don’t know it. So now he will kindly tell you a story. It happens to be of you, your story, and one you will never forget. Or at least he hopes not. Your story is filled with suspense and action and even romance that, he fears to say, ends in tragedy. Dear fellow, do not overreact or get edgy. All will be revealed by the end of this book…or the beginning of your after. But let him assure it truly happened.1
And he was there to experience it all.
